Longwood Gardens Always in Bloom ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 9 April 2010 19 Comments

Longwood Gardens Always In Bloom fragrance

In conjunction with their exhibit Making Scents: The Art and Passion of Fragrance, Longwood Gardens has launched Always in Bloom, a new fragrance for women:

Designed by 2009 International Fragrance prize winner Olivier Polge, this new eau de parfum celebrates Longwood Gardens' inspirational landscapes and world-renowned garden artistry. Featuring lily of the valley as its signature ingredient, Always in Bloom evokes a lush, fragrant springtime garden.

Olivier Polge sought a "natural effect" for the Longwood scent, using very light flowers, combinations of touches of rose and jasmine and also some orris and vetiver for the background.

Longwood Gardens Always in Bloom is available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum for $70. It is available now at the Longwood Gardens gift store and is due to launch in their online store this weekend. (via press release)

    Oooooooooooooooooooooh.

Really wish I could be at Longwood in the spring. One of my favorite places. I should really get down to the Huntington Gardens again for a local fix.

Joe, the exhibit is gorgeous, but really the conservatories at LG are always gorgeous.

Can’t believe the whole time I lived in SC, I never went to Huntington Gardens. There was a really wonderful small garden in Encinitas that I adored — Quail Gardens. I miss it! And spring in Anza Borrego when the wildflowers bloomed! Oh dear, I better get off this subject, I’m getting nostalgic.

Quail is lovely (I’m in San Diego). I just found out about Huntington recently and must get up there. Now would be the time. Was planning to go to Anza Borrego last week, but we had a mini heat wave and didn’t want to deal with 90 degree temps!

          Meeeemries….

Wish I could remember the little hotel we used to stay at in Borrego Springs.

I haven’t been to LWG in over a decade. It’s about a 2hr drive from where I live. Maybe now I have even more incentive to catch this exhibit before it’s over…

I have only breezed through the exhibit so far (it doesn’t officially open until tomorrow) but will undoubtedly go back many times.

If you haven’t been in that long, you’ll find much changed — they’ve made some great improvements to the facilities over the past 10 years, and they’ve really amped up the special events (concerts, etc). There’s a wine & jazz fest on May 1st, and “Lilytopia” opens on May 21 — supposed to be one of the largest exhibits of lilies in North America.

Gosh, it’s been closer to two decades for me – I’m WAY overdue for a visit. I hope to make it to this exhibit. The wine & jazz fest certainly sounds cool too.

It’s been a while for me, too. I really loved Longwood though. I need to get back there. I really nice to see an institution like Longwood involved in this.

I can’t wait to visit the exhibit over the summer!! LOTV is not one of my favorite notes, but I am hoping the perfume is really nice. It’s an interesting concept to launch a fragrance from a cultural institution. Good idea.

Only tried it quickly so far, but it *is* nice, much more so than I would have expected. Haven’t seen the packaging yet though.

I can’t wait to get to Longwood to check out this exhibit. I also just discovered Chanticleer, which was AMAZING! I actually like it better than Longwood, in part perhaps because it’s closer, but probably because it feels a lot more intimate.

Oh Robin, if you haven’t been to Chanticleer, you _need_ to go! Check out their website at http://www.chanticleergarden.org

That does look lovely — and not too too far. Thanks!

Going to see the exhibit a week from tomorrow with a friend who shares my love of perfume. I’m really looking forward to it, and am curious to see how “Always In Bloom” plays out. LOTV was probably chosen for its all-purpose crowd-pleaser quality as a main note, but not every perfume wearer can pull it off. It will be interesting to try it, though.
