Things I Want, part 926

Posted by Robin on 13 March 2010 15 Comments

Paul Smith perfume print leather goods

From Paul Smith, a "Leather Perfume Print Frame Purse" (20 x 13cm). At Asos, £235.

They've also got a matching wallet with the same perfume print on the back, and the words "Happiness is like perfume: you can’t give it away without getting a little on yourself’ printed on the front flap. (19.5 x 10cm) £225.

And if you toodle over to the Paul Smith website, they've got both of the above plus a "key purse" (13.5 x 8cm, looks like a coin purse?) with the same perfume print and quote as the wallet. £149.

Cute, but pricey! I initially read it as GBP35 instead of GBP235. I can get 50ml of Ta’if extrait in the monogrammed bottle for that! Anybody else do that kind of perfume math? I always calculate how much perfume I could buy for the money X costs. For example, I just spent a bottle of Serge Lutens on spring and summer clothes.

VERY pricey!! I thought at first that it must be a misprint, then I went and checked the Paul Smith website. Argh.

(and yes, I do that too!)

Ha! I knew I liked you!
I think in perfume dollars all the time!
And, when I see something I want —I think “do I want this more than a bottle of ==== ?” and know you know why I am always in old blue jeans, sweaters and Nikes….But I have a fully loaded perfume cabinet….. 😉

Robin, make a bag! I used to do Polaroid image transfers onto fabric as well as glass and paper…there’s got to be a way. Hmmm…now you’ve got me thinking about getting a bag from a second hand store, and experimenting…

Not the sort of thing I’d do, but if you do it, do share the results!

Oh, that is cute! I love bags. Too expensive for what it is, though, IMO.

I’d agree — would never spend that on what’s basically a cosmetic bag. But it’s way cute!

Too expensive indeed – but fun & adorable!! It would be cool to have that kind of mad money to throw around.

Even if I had it, I think I’d throw it at something else, but it’s nice to imagine.

Sheesh, that’s expensive! Butler & Wilson do the same kind of thing at a fraction of the price (mind you, not in leather).

Hey, this would be equally cute in vinyl for $15.

I suppose it’s expensive because Paul Smith is the Ralph Lauren of London, but as Keats said: a thing of beauty is a joy forever!
    Happy Mothers Day.
