A Huntingdon Valley company's lawsuit against superstar recording artist Prince can proceed, a New York Supreme Court judge has ruled. [...] Revelations Perfume & Cosmetics sued Prince last year, claiming the singer failed to promote a perfume Revelations had developed in conjunction with his 2006 album. The company said it spend $2.5 million developing and marketing 3121, but it tanked when Prince refused to make appearances or do anything else on its behalf.

While 3121 certainly was not what I’d expect Prince to come up with given his glory days, I actually like it just as a musky floral perfume, though it wasn’t exactly crammed full of sex appeal and mystery like the Prince of old.
I think Prince has a rather notorious rep for being less than extraverted and engaging, however, so I’m not really surprised he didn’t run the promotion circuit. I must say when a sample showed up in my mailbox via Macy’s, I had to laugh. You opened the card and a bit of the promo song began to play on one side, and there was a tab to peel back where the fragrance sample was on the other. My kids got a huge kick out of it. It was a pretty amusing ad concept. 😉
I remember that card! I know he also did some sort of concert linked to the launch of the scent, but admittedly, never heard that he did anything else after that.
Maybe that’s why my local Rexall has piles of it in the clearance section.
No doubt!
