Avon's Mark brand has launched Citrus Bloom:
Like a perfect spring day, drenched in sunshine and totally alive with possibilities! Notes of green mango, juicy mandarin and lemon ice capture your zest for life, while orange flower, honeysuckle and jasmine express an underlying floral flirtation. Sun-bleached teak, patchouli and sandalwood root the scent, creating a perfect balance between energy and calmness.
Mark Citrus Bloom is $18 for 50 ml Fragrance Mist. (via meetmark)
I’m sorry, but I have a feeling this is going to be positively horrid. As much as I like citrusy stuff–including a good dose of lemon now and then—this concoction just screams “room spray” to me. Maybe I’m being too influenced by bad experiences with Avon fragrances in my youth. I haven’t tested an Avon scent in probably 20 years! But I sure hated them as a youngster.
besides—today is an iris day —-side by sides of Odori Iris and Iris Taizo —one shall be mine!
But which? (I haven’t tried the Odori, but Taizo is a winner in my book.)
BTW, I think the Avon sounds pretty, but I don’t carry any past Avon fragrance baggage. 🙂
I’m thinking Iris Taizo since the Perfume Gods (and smart and wonderful perfume buddies) saw fit to find me a split of Odori.
🙂
Avon scented my childhood (via my live-in granny). Haven’t smelled any in a long time. Bottle is sure pretty, though.
Today is a tuberose day.
The Mark scents aren’t bad, although they are definitely aimed at the “younger” crowd. I don’t think any perfumista would wear them, but for the price they’re fine if you just want to smell like something. 🙂
For the price, I don’t think they’re bad…but true that they’re not likely to attract that many perfumistas.
I’ve long since given up on Avon frags. Where I work, I have an Avon rep who gives out free samples, and none has ever attracted me enough to purchase. I will say however, that a couple of them are nice for young girls, but perfumistas? As you say Robin, extremely unlikely.
I had hopes for Abysnthe, but it wasn’t interesting enough. They do some cool bottles though…I liked that one in particular.
Allow me to step in and confess, as a perfumista, that I would likely wear this. It sounds pretty and I love all the citrus, and there are some days I just want to spritz on something pretty without puzzling over the more exotic items in my collection. Especially if it’s a really hot summer day and we have errands to run. Nothing worse than being caught in a previously wonderful cloud of a favorite frag that soon becomes really hard to take in a hot automobile. 🙂 I liked a couple Avon perfumes as a young girl (Pearls & Lace and Odyssey come to mind) and would likely keep this in the fridge for after I’ve been out gardening or other outdoor fun on a really hot and humid summer afternoon.
Oh, I keep lots of simple citrus scents around — I don’t always want complicated either!
I’ll confess that I am one of the few non-Avon-haters. If I was dead broke and needed a fragrance, I would probably still buy Imari and Far Away. And I still scour ebay looking for Willow, which came out sometime in the early 80’s.
Come to think of it, I’m dead broke now, and that doesn’t stop me from thinking I can buy Lutens, PG, Del Rae, Nasomatto…
LOL!
Crikey, for a moment I thought you were about to say you’d buy it if you were dead. Now that’s an interesting train of thought …
I like Far Away too…
