Roxana Illuminated Perfume Chocolate Natural Perfumes, Second Tier ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 16 February 2010 20 Comments

Roxana Illuminated Perfume has launched "the second tier" in their series of natural chocolate perfumes (see the first set here):

Figure 7: Pétales ~ "The classic combination of Chocolate and Roses. Queen of fragrances, Rose, adored by ancient Greeks, Romans, Persians and the courts of European Renaissance marries the magical seeds from the Aztec Indian legends."

Figure 8: Coeur de Jasmin ~ "Rich heart of Jasmine enveloped by Chocolate. The heady, full bodied grand dame of India mates with cacao like the acclaimed drink of the Medici dynasty during the 17th century Italian Renaissance."

Figure 9: Fleurs de Orange ~ "A buzz with Orange blossom flowers and honey. Delicate and euphoric white Orange blossoms, originating in the Far East, perform an enchanting classical ballet."

Figure 10: Blanc ~ "Opposite of Noir, a milk chocolate truffle featuring the Vanilla Orchid Bean at center stage."

Figure 11: Chêne ~ "A tribute to the mighty Oak with notes of wood, resin, aloes wood and moss."

The perfumes can be found at the Roxana Illuminated Perfume store at Etsy, and are $15 each for 5g; gift sets and samples also available. (via press release)

No.9 and no.10 make me exceedingly hungry….but no thanks to chocolate in perfume. Smells good at first but starts to make me nauseous after a while.
    Cool box/picture though.

I am not so into the chocolate frags either, but I have been wanting to try her Peace perfume ever since I found out about her line.

Yes, these are so adorable, and she’s got some great sets. I like chocolate perfume myself.

I think the Antique Floral Natual Perfume Locket is nice, I’m a sucker for the solids.

I love chocolate in scents, Noir and Chene are the first two I’d like to try. I also like her packaging. It’d make a nice bridesmaid gift-especially the bee packaging. Sooo cute! (Etsy is dangerous for me anyway…..)

I imagine because they are natural scents, the sillage and staying power are moderate?

I haven’t tried these so couldn’t say, but that’s certainly usually the case with naturals. And solids rarely have much sillage.

The packaging for all the Roxanas is soooo lovely – unique and quirky and beautiful.

But I’m with Daisy – chocolate is a no-no in scent for me. (I finally gave up on Theorema because of that cocoa note in the drydown. I hate that. I don’t even bother to enjoy the first few hours of it anymore, because I know what’s coming… )

Leaves more Theorema for me 🙂

cocoa in Theorema?? Well, I’m super glad I don’t get any of that from Theorema! Egad! You know I love to EAT chocolate….just can’t take it in perfume. Theorema is all nutmeg and spice on me…thank goodness.

Yow! Scared me, too. I don’t get any chocolate in Theorema, either. It was one of my first “big” perfume purchases (innocent days, untainted by Amouage) which I bought unsniffed because of a certain enabler’s love for it. I don’t get any chocolate in Elixir des Merveilles either despite the fact I know it is there and I’m highly suggestible.
These are really cute and I love that she is selling on Etsy! I take the Etsy pledge every Christmas to only give handmade gifts. I didn’t include myself in that unless it is handmade by Guerlain. Or Amouage.

I hear the Amouage box thingy the bottle comes in is handmade… wink.

Yes, *cocoa*. Down in the base. Bleah… I really love it up to that point, and then I can’t wait to wash it off.

I absolutely love the packaging. Not sure how I feel about the fragrances but I do wear Hermes Elixir de Merveilles which reminds me of chocolate oranges so I might be able to give this a try.

These should be marvelous – I do like chocolate in perfume, but not cocoa. I can’t take the dusty cocoa weirdness in Montale Chocolate Greedy, it literally makes me ill, but I adore chocolate in perfumes where it’s presented as the dark, rich melting stuff, such as in the now-discontinued Sali Oguri Persephone New York. I could bathe in that stuff and quaff it down like wine.

Roxana’s perfumes do have rather moderate longevity in most cases, but her Peace fragrance was outstanding and very long-lasting.

Persephone is wonderful and presents a glorious take on chocolate. I bought a bottle last year and it is one of my favorite winter perfumes. I just can’t use it that often given it’s such a tiny little thing and I don’t want to use it all up. 🙂

I haven’t tried any perfume solids yet, but these do look tempting. Do you get pretty moderate sillage and lasting power with solids? I imagine they’d wear very close to the skin like perfume oils…
