Bath & Body Works P.S. I Love You Spring Fling ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 29 January 2010 14 Comments

Bath & Body Works P.S. I Love You Spring Fling fragrance

Bath & Body Works has launched P.S. I Love You Spring Fling, a new flanker to last year's P.S. I Love You fragrance:

Inspired by the thrill of falling in love, master perfumers have created this playful twist on our original P.S. I Love You with a flirty blend of soft petals, sparkling water, wild honeysuckle, and fresh air.

The notes include sparkling water, melon, fresh air ozonic notes, citrus, rose, muguet, honeysuckle, plum, amber, musk, cedar and sheer vetiver.

Bath & Body Works P.S. I Love You Spring Fling is available in 75 ml Eau de Toilette ($29.50) or 240 ml Fragrance Mist ($12). Matching body products are also available. (via bathandbodyworks)

The bottle is really nice and the price is reasonable.I don’t care for cedar and ozonic notes so it doesn’t tempt me.

They do have cute bottles, don’t they? I got a bottle of Twilight Woods over the holidays. It is sort of a transparent aubergine colour with a frosted side that has a cutout tree and a silver cap instead of the usual clear one. I haven’t really worn it, but it is pretty on my dresser when the light hits it and the tree shines through. I actually went in for their triple moisturizing shower cream (great for shaving) and they were having one of their promotions where you buy something and get half the store as a free gift. They also applied a coupon for me at checkout and I left the store with a bag full of stuff for about $18, which is actually less than the EdTs cost alone. I also like their shea butter cream that comes in a little tub. Jessica mentioned it last fall and it is great. I wish they had an unscented version, but they don’t do unscented there.

They’ve really upped their efforts at doing nice packaging, and yes…you can walk out with quite a bit of stuff for not too much money, esp. with all the travel & introductory sizes.

I also thought the Twilight Woods was pretty nice. It’s more complex and has less of a plastic quality than I had expected.

I once temped for a company that did fragrance work for BBW. On one of their slide-shows they had the slogan “Never underestimate the sophistication of the consumer!” I’m impressed that they seem to be taking that to heart, kicking up the complexity little by little.

I like Twilight Woods as well. It’s great if you want an uncomplicated cozy scent.

This doesn’t move me at all since I’m not into aquatic/fresh, but I agree there are some great items at BBW if you shop around. I like their Warm Milk and Honey, and they’ve just introduced a Comfort Warm Milk line in their aromatherapy department. I can’t remember the last time I was there, however, so I might be due for a trip back. But I’m not huge on flankers from this line and would like all together new frags instead, but I’m likely not the target audience anyway.

I don’t think I’ve tried any of the milk products, will have to do a trip there myself.

I’ve tried to match some of the shower creams and shea butter things to fragrances I like so they are okay layered. The Velvet Tuberose isn’t bad and I sometimes use that in the shower when I’m planning on wearing a tuberose fragrance like Fracas, Carnal Flower or Daphne. Somebody on Fragrantica pointed out the similarity of Sensual Amber to Back to Black and I can sort of get that. For some reason I just can’t get behind their vanillas. I love vanilla fragrances and should like Vanilla Noir as it is a vanilla/carnation, two of my favourite notes, but I just don’t. Same with Warm Vanilla Sugar. I don’t even like to use the shower creams in those scents.

I think Velvet Tuberose is one of their more underrated fragrances. I think the VT bubble bath is nice. I like that it looks like liquid gold, and it has a nice not too overpowering fragrance.

Oh, I love Vanilla Noir and went through a Sensual Amber phase for quite a while as well. I never got Black Amethyst, though, despite it being one of their more popular offerings. It just felt too busy and like it didn’t know what sort of perfume it wanted to be. But I have the same problem of frags I like from BBW being discontinued like Brown Sugar & Fig, Tropical Passionfruit and their wonderful Pink Grapefruit.

I like Brown Sugar & Fig as well, but only as a substitute for my much beloved and discontinued Simplicity line Fig they used to carry.

I can actually credit Bath & Body Works with connecting me to this site: After discontinuing my favorite Fig (Brown Sugar & Fig wasn’t even close to the other one!), I started looking around for other fig perfumes/fragrances and came across Robin’s posts from a few years ago on Philosykos and other fig fragrances. I was hooked! I went from 2 bottles to 15 and over 100 samples in the past year.

I was loving Black Amethyst, but I am getting tired of it. I bought a bunch of it for myself. Last year I bought it for my boss for her birthday, and she LOVES it. So much so that she has taken to dousing herself and her office in it, to the point where I can smell it down the hall. I still like it, I have the wallflower in it in my bedroom, but I’m starting to tire of constantly being bombarded by the fragrance.

At the office & in the bedroom does sound like more exposure than I’d like!
