Posted by Robin on 4 January 2010 31 Comments

Dance with Givenchy fragranceGivenchy Dance perfume bottle

Next up from Givenchy will be Dance with Givenchy, a new fragrance for women that "aims to evoke the easy grace of a free-spirited woman, emancipated from all conventions".

The notes include apple, mandarin, orange blossom, jasmine, ylang-ylang, woods and musk.

I will update with sizes and concentration when I can find them. (via moodiereport)

Update: Dance with Givenchy is available in 50 ml Eau de Toilette. As of spring 2010, it is exclusive to duty-free.

Lol, seriously! It really is all about the marketing, isn’t it? But to be fair, when’s the last time Givenchy did a fruity floral?

        Last year, with Be Givenchy.

It was a duty free only, I think, although sometimes their duty free things end up elsewhere eventually.

Yeah, I’d like to be emancipated from the fruity floral.

And from apple. Although in all fairness, I’ve no idea if this is a fruity floral or not.

It does sound more like a fruity woody floral. :) I’m not sure which is worse. I guess I should reserve judgment until I’ve actually smelled it, but I haven’t liked anything by Givenchy for a very long time.

If it turns out to be their yearly duty-free exclusive, it’s almost certainly a fruity floral — but you never can tell. Even with those notes it could be an oriental.

From the bottle and juice color I suspect it IS the duty free exclusive. I enjoyed So Givenchy, and the similar Lovely Prism, but I found the My Givenchy series disappointing. I love silly fruity scents (Hello Escada!) as much as the next person, but the recent releases smelled cheap and plasticey like the Disney scents at my local CVS.

But here’s hoping that Mark Buxton is behind this one, and they gave him a reasonable budget to work with. He’s a master light, deceptively simple scents.

The man is a master of tart fruits. I’d like to see him do something herbal, or with iris or violets.

Oh, no pink pepper? I am disappointed! Looks like YSL Parisienne. Targets probably same group and – watch out, there is APPLE inside.
    No more pears.
Sorry, it looks really uninspired. REALLY. The ad is boring, the bottle is boring, the name. Maybe it will be available only in duty-free shops.

They usually do a duty-free exclusive early every year, so this could be it.

Maybe it is nice. Everything with apple in it, is widely avoided, but we will see.

Nothing says emancipation like that list of notes.

Ha! maybe they’re going for the classic ” well, how do you like THOSE apples!!??” type emancipation…..

Lol, be free to unabashedly flaunt the fruity floral! Really, though, how else would you invoke free-spirited lightness? Through what notes?

I still haven’t gotten over Givenchy’s discontinuing Organza Indecence and their re-release that is a pale shadow of OI’s former glory. :( This does have duty-free written all over it, though.

I am still not clear on whether or not they’ve officially discontinued OI, or if they’re just not distributing it very widely. The re-release formulation might not be their fault — could be another IFRA casualty.

I lost interest after “apple”. Instead, I started wincing at the idea of doing tree pose with a stiletto heel in my thigh (ouch!).

I always do yoga in my stilettos. Standing on a box.

I saw that mad bit of an ad and thought the same thing, “Free spirited in stilettos?” What happen to the crazed antics of Audry from Funny Face? Now that was free spirited in charming black ballet slippers swirling through the smoke and arms sultry men in a little French cafe. There might have been a vampire there sulking in the back at the time, who knows?

I am beginning to think that when targeting a ‘younger’ market they attack them with fruit. Cram it with berries, apples or some other kin to the latest Trident bubble gum trend and you have ’em! Ho-hum. I am still out taking notes on this thought however.

    I like the bottle! :-)

My cousin is a modern dance teacher (hip hop, pop dance, you name it) and this looks very giftable and inoffensive :-D I will give it to her as a present.

Oh that’s a great idea! I’ve got a girlfriend who does ballet and modern dance, and I bet she’d love this. Yes, great gifting material!

Why didn’t Givenchy get an actual dancer to pose for them, instead of this klutzy model?

Gosh, does she look klutzy? I can’t imagine what I’d look like trying to do that in 3 inch heels. Would probably involve injury though ;-)

Yet another fruity floral with a pink juice.I will give it a try but, I don’t have high hopes for it.My daughter is a dancer but she doesn’t like perfume. How can that be possible.Maybe I will have to wear it for her like I do the Vera Wang Princess I got for her a few years back.LOL
