Actress Pamela Anderson will launch Malibu, a new duo of fragrances for women, this month:
It was so important to me that I develop an authentic fragrance and body line that I could use and incorporate all of the important elements of my own lifestyle – something beachy and fun, yet earth-friendly and cruelty-free because anyone who knows me knows the importance I place on protecting the environment and safety of animals.
Malibu Day / Malibu Pink is a fruity floral with notes of wild berries, mandarin, honeysuckle, white florals, ambered sandalwood, caramel, vanilla and praline.
Malibu Night / Malibu Blue is an oriental with pomegranate, chocolate persimmon, greens, black orchid, lotus, champaca, vanilla violet, mahogany wood, patchouli and amber.
The Pamela Anderson Malibu fragrances will be available in 50 and 100 ml, concentration unknown, and will be sold at drug stores and discount chains. (quote via pamelaanderson, additional information via cosmeticnews, internationalbeautybrands.biz)
Hmm, that’s more like it. I’d be game to try them both. I am pining BIG for Azuree Soleil (and no, Bronze Goddess is just a cheap nose-scratching imitation) and failed to find anything simple beachy and fun. The only one that comes close is Premier Figuier Extreme and that one is lacking youth – it’s like Azuree Soleil’s glamorous, 20 years older mother. If Azuree is Latitia Casta, Figuier is Claudia Cardinale.
Now if these came as skin scents promising the BODY of Pamela Anderson when sprayed, just imagine 😀
Ack. I would not want to look like PA.
I wouldn’t want to dress like her but her body is not bad.
And I get to keep my face, which I like better 🙂
Ah, NileGoddess, but you must have heard the crack about her not standing too close to radiators.
God bless PA, though….she’s at least my age and I’m still working too!
Nile, you can pay to have the same body. With the right amount of money, any of us can look like her. (And I don’t have anything at all against her, I’m just saying that looking like that does not come naturally.)
If you want a body like Pamela Anderson’s, just go out and buy you one.
Personally, I wouldn’t want those boobs even if spraying on her fragrance could give them to me.
The Malibu Night might be nice! Chocolate and patchouli are two of my faves.
Could be…I liked that combo in Covet.
So do I! I’m still a big fan of Covet, I can’t wait to get a sniff of these. Anyone who loves animals as much as she does is alright in my book, so I’m hoping I’ll enjoy these fragrances.
though i must say, the bottle is just hideous.
It’s not my favorite either.
I agree with Robin about the bottle, though Malibu Night is something I would try. Do the notes kind of remind anyone else of Euphoria?
And/or Covet.
when I saw “chocolate” and “greens” It reminded me of my beloved Covet.
I’m intrigued by Malibu Night.. but have no idea how violet vanilla will translate.
While her clothes are trashy, she’s quite the interior decorator.
You know, “violet vanilla” is probably just a missing comma on their website.
I hope so… I can’t imagine green vanilla.
When I saw that Pamela Anderson now has a perfume, my first thought was “oy”. The Malibu Night sounds interesting to me though – I’ll definitely check it out.
If you do, let us know how it is!
I wouldn’t mind trying these – you know I occasionally stray into the fruity floral genre and these both sound a bit sweet but fun.
The defunct Jane magazine loved PA – they published her several times sans clothes (tastefully) and sans makeup and she is really quite a lovely woman. Just has a bad personal aesthetic.
I loved JANE. Now I’ve got a case of the sads…
PA wrote a column for a while, I really liked it.
I’m so not into the trashy look, but I think she’s gorgeous when she cleans up.
She would probably think my personal aesthetic was bad too. So we can each keep our own and be happy.
I love the way PA cares about animals and the environment. \that alone will make me test these when they get here.
actually I bought a mens fragrance the other day because it said its not tested on animals, but it is a very weak fragrance, and I don’t like weak fragrances!
Laken, I’m not sure those two things are related, if I’m hearing you correctly.
I don’t know much about animal testing in the EU but I doubt there’s much, if any, based on what I’ve read.
Anybody out there can speak to that? (We have such interesting people on this board, somebody must know!)
There is little or no animal testing in the perfume industry, as I understand it, and what is happening is not by perfume brands. So no, not worth buying anything for that reason.
Oh, thanks for that Suzzanne and Robin. That makes me feel better about the tons of other bottles I have! Thats good to hear. Might also do some checking on the internet.
Day sounds painfully sweet. Night sounds a bit gimmicky, using modern and ‘hip’ foods like: pomegranate, persimmon and black orchid.
I’m okay with liking ‘hip’. 🙂
The gimmicks in Night sound more appealing to me though 🙂
Fair enough, but not so long ago mango was ‘hip’ 🙂
They Both sound like Trashy Messes…. Just Like Her! OK… I admit the Night version sounds somewhat enticing, especially with the Champaca, Lotus and Amber… But anything Branded by Pam makes me wanna retch! She is so UNWOMANLY… So Plasticy Barbie-esque and such A AIRHEAD! WOW! she makes Mariah Carey look like a Mensa Honoree! I cannot say that i will search these out, because i won’t, but if i happen to see them in passing i might be compelled to take a whiff, otherwise… they can sink into the ever darkening abyss of Celeb-U-Frags with the rest! I really couldn’t care less!
Cracked up at “she makes Mariah Carey look like a Mensa Honoree”…
Tsk, tsk. 🙁
Sorry R. I will smack my hand.
🙂
Well, I’ve eaten persimmons and I’ve eaten chocolate, but not a chocolate persimmon… now that has me a bit intrigued – maybe more about dipping persimmons in chocolate (the crispier type of the fruit) than smelling this, but I’d give it a whirl!
Not something I’ve tasted either.
I can’t imagine who would buy these just because her name is on them; the “Pink” one sounds both scary and generic fruity-floral and the “Blue”one appears to be a mishmash of many things that are guaranteed to clash horribly . To me she has become a sad joke, and she is not aging gracefully, to say the least. These will probably appeal to the kind of person who buys Britney Spears’ perfumes. Ack.
One thing i would like to know is who did the juice. The company behind it seems to do nothing BUT celeb scents.
Hey! Some of us have bought Britney Spears scents. 😉
It’s all about the juice….
\aging gracefully is a little bit boring though. Pammy looks good for her age, especially since she had to battle that nasty hepatitis.
I’m not sure this company has done any great number of scents at all, celeb or otherwise.
“It was so important to me that I develop an authentic fragrance and body line that I could use and incorporate all of the important elements of my own lifestyle…” Oh, and also, I’m broke!
Pammy actually sounds like a nice enough lady, but give me Dolly Parton any day — a mammoth-bazoomed white trash woman with BRAINS.
HA! 🙂 Excellent! I agree with all of that.
Lol. didn’t realize that Dolly was particularly intelligent.
Seriously? Dolly is sharp as a tack and a heckuva businessperson — really!
Absolutely! I have tremendous respect for Dolly Parton and yes she is sharp as a tack!
Have yet to see anything of Pamela to inspire respect. It’s nice that she is concerned about animals and the environment especially when all other celebrities spend their free time clubbing baby harp seals…. sheesh
Gosh, sorry. Looks like I offended the Dolly Parton fab club!
LOL…I’m sure nobody is offended!
Oh, she is both smart and talented. I don’t know anything about PA so can’t compare.
I would like to try these…especially Malibu night…Hopefully, they won’t be toooooo sweet!!! The day would be OK…if the balancing of all the ingredients is very very careful..and maybe no need for caramel and praline!!!toooo sweeeeet?
They sure sound sweet. Doubt I’ll get to try them as I’d guess samples will be hard to come by.
HKM—if you get a sniff of these, let us know what they’re like…but for your own sake, keep some of those Ivy Cleanse towelettes in your purse, I suspect these two scents are going to be very very sweet.
The day i even sniff this fragrance will be the day snow falls in Arabia. No one gives two hoots about PA, why would she launch a fragrance? SICK
Would guess many people give two hoots! But not so many that she could get signed by Coty or Elizabeth Arden.
Not a lot of love here for Ms. Pamela! 😉 My only initial reaction was the same as with all celeb scents – “another one jumping on the bandwagon – oy”. Sweet or not, I will give them a sniff if i see them when I’m out & about, because what the heck – I’m always compelled to smell a new fragrance.
No, but somebody loves her, and they’ll buy the perfume 🙂
Night sounded quite appealing…. until I read that dreaded word; patchouli.
Might not be much of it, who knows.
Lot of foodstuffs here. I read the description of “Night”, and pictured a chocolate-dipped persimmon next to a mess of collards. Anyone ever get tricked into biting into a persimmon when they were kids? I know that they must mean “asian persimmon”, the big orange ones that are kind of cloyingly sweet, but American persimmons made a much bigger impression on me.
Collards, ack!
Wow – I’m not that interested in the scents and I’m not a Pam Anderson fan, but there sure is an awful lot of vitriol aimed at someone who is essentially harmless (to everyone but herself). Unless she has been secretly clubbing baby seals or something…
Before anyone launches into the anti-plastic surgery screed – I’m not big on it either, but it is her body and she’s free to do what she wants with it. I do think that she was much more attractive “before”, but she seems to have gotten what she wants out of the surgery.
I don’t know…there was some vitriol, but also some positive comments, and quite a few “interested to smell” comments. About the same as usual for any celebrity perfume.
I guess I was just taken aback by someone calling her trashy mess – seems a bit much for someone you don’t even know personally.
Not disagreeing…but the whole point of celebrity scents is that you’re meant to want them because you admire the celebrity, right? If it was just about the juice, you wouldn’t need a celebrity to front it at all. I mean there are people who will buy this just because it’s by Pamela Anderson, and the flip side is that there are people who won’t buy it just because it’s by Pamela Anderson. The whole thing is mostly mysterious to me because I don’t much care about celebrities in general, but this is usually about how it goes in the comments about an upcoming celebrity fragrance: some people like the person, some people don’t.
That’s true – and I agree that you sign up for a certain degree of being photographed and gossiped about when you’re a celebrity. I think that most days I just shrug off whatever is being said about a given celeb and focus on the juice. It just surprises me when comments turn mean and personal – like this one and I think the Kate Moss fronted scent or maybe the Sienna Miller one. It just seems like that’s an awful lot of negative emotion to carry around about someone that you don’t even know – or heck, even someone you do know.
Well, I can’t disagree with that, esp. since I have no strong feelings about celebrities either way.
I guess it was only a matter of time before this happened. I’m wondering what took her so long. I am wondering if there are rules when a female celebrity wants to come out with her own fragrance- Make it a fruity/floral or else! Anyhow, when the day arrives, I will give it a sniff. Not holding my breath or maybe I should.
My guess: she wasn’t offered a contract.
I guess I’m just WONDERING! Sorry folks-it’s Monday.
Your’e not THE Dolly are you? Yeah, I just want to say I think there is a lot of vitriol thrown at certain celebs. Its not very nice, but freedom of speech and everything.. I just don’t thinks its for the good of anyone.
I wish. For her money that is. Nothing else.
I’m a little late to this snark party, but I thought she was SERIOUSLY past her marketing peak (not to mention any other peaks).
I honestly don’t know what she’s up to these days, so couldn’t say.
PA does her MAC Viva thing, various fashion shows and is really known for her design aesthetic in shabby chic decor – she has a beautiful home and every once in a while offers her furnishings for sale. She’s all right in my book.
I had no idea she did anything w/ home decorating. Will have to google, thanks!
Since I was named after her (stupid grandpa. Stupid, stupid grampa.) I will have to check out this fragrance to see if we both have any similarities in tastes.
If we do, I might die. (She’s as old as dirt, I’m not that old… At least, I don’t think so.)
Old as dirt?? She’s in her 40s.
Do you know when this will be out?
All I know is November, sorry!
