Posted by Robin on 20 October 2009 27 Comments

Yardley Heritage

Yardley has launched the Heritage Collection, comprising three new fragrances for women described as "modern beauty classics inspired by English florals".

Yardley Geranium ~ "This beautiful fragrance captures the English aroma of fresh Geraniums as they blossom and hit the sunshine, with light notes of fresh green grass."

Yardley Hyacinth ~ "The enticing aroma of fresh Hyacinth has been recreated in this timeless fragrance giving a floral abundance of Hyacinth petals, flower buds and green stems."

Yardley Orange Blossom ~ "The delightful and heavenly fragrance of Orange Blossom Flower is softened and caressed by crystal flakes of musk."

Yardley Heritage Collection Geranium, Hyacinth and Orange Blossom are available in 50 ml Eau de Toilette. (via yardleylondon.co.uk)

These sound so innocent and cheerful to me – reminds me of the simple perfumes our Mum used to buy us as children. Yardley’s soap is always in my linen closet. 🙂

Hear hear! I keep bars of Yardley lavender soap in my linen closet too, just for scenting purposes.

Good ol’ Yardley of London. Not dying to try these but now I’ll have to find my old tin of their English Lavender talcum powder that’s around here somewhere…

I used to love their lavender soap so much I’d stick it in my pillow case at night when i was a kid so I could smell it as i fell asleep.

I love Orange Blossoms, but I’m afraid that I’m enough of a snob that I don’t hold out much hope for these.

Now if only they would re-release Oh de London! That would be a real blast from the past.

    Hugs!

You know, I’m surprised they don’t, R. You’d think it would get more attention than these.

Is it wrong to want the Hyacinth for a room spray? I suppose not if Boots is selling it for £9.95… LOL.

Keep an eye on Boots then — I checked yesterday and they did not have these yet.

Crystal flakes? Sounds like a new drug. Where would one get Christal flakes of musk?
Oh ad copy, you make me snort…Christal flakes.

While I like Yardley, the collection seems a little one sided to me. Not enough notes for my tastes, but they may come in handy as linen sprays.

Never hurts to have another linen spray.

Orange musk? I am a little intrigued by that. Yardley was always a stuffy English brand for me, for the grey-haired ladies I saw on my high street when I lived in London. It was usually sold in pharmacies and was relatively cheap so it was never a line that I bothered with during my younger mostly snobbish years.

But, ever since discovering Morrocan Rose at The Body Shop, I have been proven wrong – not all cheap things are low-quality things. I think I am swayed enough by the clean lines of the bottles pictured above to give at least the orange blossom one a try! 🙂

They’re all already half price at Boots. I am intrigued by the Hyacinth as a linen spray.

I’ve been—surprisingly for me—on a hyacinth kick lately. Never, in a million years, would I have ever believed I’d get close to the waxy-oily, super-heady note…but I think an itty-bitty antique store found bottle of Jean Patou’s “Vacances” had something to do with my change of heart.

I like how “Olde World” Yardley products smell. They really do seem like pretty little scents that would be sitting on Victorian vanity tables and brisk or powdery soliflores were in trend during that era…

I still treasure what I have left of L’Artisan’s hyacinth. It’s a great scent.
