(via press release)
100% allergen free, eh. So it’s not possible to be allergic to sandalwood, flowers, vanilla……someone might want to point them in the direction of the dictionary.
aside from liberties taken with the definition of allergen, I like the bottles. They do look like the colour descriptions of the jewels on the trees of the cave in the story.
I love the bottles!
Supposedly they’ve removed all of the allergens.
I didn’t realise you could do that? Wonder if that affects the smell.
Many natural materials are molecularly re-engineered these days. Usually that’s done precisely to affect the smell, in this case, no idea but would think so.
Wow, I had no idea there were allergen-free fragrances. Guessing I still wouldn’t be able to get away with wearing it to work. Love those bottles, though.
Miss Kitty, they claim to be the first allergen-free, no idea if that’s true or not.
Hmm, maybe I should buy one and test it out on my allergic coworker? It would all be in the name of science, of course, so I needn’t feel bad about buying yet another bottle of perfume. Because it would be for science.
Pigoletto said it all, though I have to say… doesn’t molecularly rearranging natural materials sort of take the “natural” out of it?
Er…re-engineering. Not been a good week.
Most brands don’t see it that way…they call it “purifying” 🙂
yeah, well that’s nice of them….I have to go “purify” my refrigerator today…there are a few things way in the back that are a bit TOO natural….specifically a bag of apples that are making cider against my will.
I like your comment. It is very poetry! (is it good English?)
For a second, I thought that said Parfums de Nicolai and almost jumped for joy.
Sorry!
me too! 🙂
Glorious bottles… like some colored Lalique
Yes, they’re great. I don’t love the colors (the only one I want is the black one) though.
Well, at 177 euros, I probably won’t indulge, but the bottles are great!
Don’t think I’ll be buying any either!
LOL! – “where Polite Love hides behind secret clumps” 🙂 🙂 🙂
So many questions! What is “Polite Love”? What are “secret clumps”?
Yeah, I wonder what the intention was in the original language; lots of ways you could go with that one 😉
I can’t believe how long it took for someone to mention that line!
🙂 Yes, I could barely contain myself as I scrolled down to the “comment” box!
I agree with those who like the bottles (almost anything in yellow, orange, or green glass works for me!), but “ack” regarding another multi-fragrance launch and it’s unlikely I’ll ever even seek these out.
It’s sort of amazing…how can all these brands be making money?
Amerindian? But there were lots of different tribes who lived in completely different environments.
Since it’s cedarwood from VA they should have called it ~*~*Pocahontas Garden*~*~*~
European and Asian Gardens seem pretty silly to me too.
Yeah, these kinds of things, e.g. Parfum D’Empire, end up having to squish together thousands of years of history and diversity.
I was hoping for Amerindian they would have something more outrageous but potentially lovely: squash (love the smell of a freshly opened squash I’m taking the seeds out of) or tomato stem, or nuts… you know, a range of New World things.
Rhubarb comes from Asia anyway…not sure these are meant to be historically accurate, just inspirations?
Exactly. It’s hardly a tribute to Native Americans if most of the ingredients in the fragrance are native to Europe and Asia.
Good for you, Moon_Grrl (yes, I remember meeting you in person!) and Robin. I thought I’d have to be the one to point out the non-nativeness of those notes. Some day I’m going to take a perfumer to a prairie and set them straight.
janjan and i are rly upset that you aren’t congratulating us for being rly ~*smart*~
Krok , you are smart and clever!! You question things, and thats good, in my book.
Also I noticed that the “amer-indian” garden perfume didn’t have the right notes from the plants that are native to there.
I ran out of interest in reading notes about halfway through (which usually happens with the multi-fragrance launches), but I sure do like the bottles.
those purty bottles caught my eye immediately…..but I got totally hung up on considering the secret clumps…..I will however keep my own counsel since this isn’t the sort of blog where we’re supposed to be discussing anyone’s secret clumps…..
🙂 🙂 🙂
VJ knows what I’m talkin about. 😉
All together like that the bottles look a bit Christmas lights-y… 😉
The trouble with multiple bottles like that is that you always see them in the advertising as a group and the effect is smashing, and then you see one bottle all by itself and it’s a disappointment. You have to buy them all. Pokemon perfume.
And I don’t want to seem vulgar but right smack in the middle of the bottle’s graphic design is a rather hieroglyphic-looking side view of a penis with an oversized scrotum. It’s not just me and my dirty mind: I mean, it’s right there. Can this possibly have been deliberate?
LOL…so there is!
can’t believe I missed that…….of course now that’s ALL I can see…. ack.
but now I’m not sure if that’s the “polite love” or the “secret clump” ??
…so confused!
lol Daisy! 🙂 I think these are a bit beyond “free” and I’ve got other series launches I want to sample, but a mini discovery set would be nice, clumps and all. 😀
Looks more like Impolite Love to me!
HA! 😀
Hi Pyramus!
Did you see a woman sex too?
I saw it! lol
It also looks like caspar the friendly ghost.
I like the bottles, they’ve got a vintage look to them. Allergen free? No such thing. Depends on the individual.
Probably so.
I’m sorry, I really wanted to read about these but I just couldn’t get beyond the ‘romantism’ of Polite Love hiding behind ‘secret clumps’. HOOTING with laughter, so much so that I can hardly type, let alone read further. That hardly ever happens; and I really needed it right now.
THANK you for posting!
I hope the fumes are good – well, heck, I don’t even care whether they are.
Couldn’t stand it any more & had to go look at the French. I think they meant groves:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosquet
The “polite love” is amour courtois…courtois can mean polite, but I wonder if in this context is closer to “courtly”.
But you have to wonder who all these companies hire as translators!
If, and that’s a big if, I had unlimited disposable income, I might just buy all of these for the pretty display they’d make on my vanity. But they are a bit pricey to buy as home decor.
At the current exchange rate, that’d be about $1800. Thinking you could find something else equally decorative for that amount!
Oooooo! See the pretty colors in the bottles!
What a terrible temptation (to line them up on a windowsill like suncatchers).
I love the colors. Once again, I’m tempted to order the original Anna Sui. Yes, it’s all about the color.
Yes, they’d be gorgeous on a windowsill!
I agree with Robin. It looks nice.
And he is right for the translation too.
It seems to be Amour courtois in French.
But “secret clump”??? I do not know
I do think it was supposed to be “secret grove”.
Yes Robin, It seems for me that you are right. “Secret Grove” sounds better and it is closer to “Amour Courtois”. May be their translator is not very good
Like Lillybeth I am curious about the fragrances. And specially how they did to be allergent free! Does it mean there are not allergens at all or only not allergens to be declared.
Somoene could answer me about that?
I’m sorry, I don’t really know. Here is their website if you want to investigate:
http://nicolasdanila.com/
Thank you Robin.
The site is quite nice, but not too many information…
I have to say I am a bit curious about the Aboriginal Gardens… it’s not often you see a perfume inspired by the Australian bush (which is where I grew up)… not that the listed notes sound particularly like they would evoke that environment BUT I am curious…
Me too I am curious ans for the others too…
No, that’s not a common inspiration for perfume!
The notes sound blah. The bottles look great though. Although I have a funny feeling they look great TOGETHER, and if you were to buy just one the impact would be considerably lessened …
Wouldn’t refuse if someone would make me a present of the entire collection, they must look great on a dresser, all of them!
I wouldn’t refuse either 🙂
