Profumi del Forte Versilia Vintage Boise & Ambra Mediterranea ~ new perfumes

Posted by Robin on 1 October 2009 15 Comments

Profumi del Forte Versilia Vintage Boise & Ambra Mediterranea fragrances

Italian niche line Profumi del Forte will introduce a new line, Versilia Vintage, with two fragrances, Boisé and Ambra Mediterranea:

A déjà-vu, a thrill of emotion that makes you tremble. It awakens some long lost desire, or perhaps a moment of regret. Versilia Vintage is the joy of rediscovering things we thought were lost. A feint [sic] memory which time has preserved, enriched and matured, finally returning it to us at the height of its enchantment.

Boisé ~ a "subtle and elite" citrus floral woods, with notes of bitter orange, bergamot, vetiver, lavender, bourbon geranium, honey, Texas cedar, patchouli, tonka bean and elemi.

Ambra Mediterranea ~ a sweet ambery woody oriental, with notes of orange, coriander, ylang ylang, jasmine, grey amber, benzoin, tolu balsam, cedar, patchouli, incense, vanilla and white musk.

Profumi del Forte Boisé and Ambra Mediterranea will be available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum. The packaging features an "innovative technique" in which the "ink in the labels contains the genetic code of the fragrance (invisible to the human eye) and a special optic reader deciphers it and transfers it into sound. When the bottle is placed near the reader THE VOICE OF THE FRAGRANCE can be heard, and the unexpected journey into its sound dimension starts". If I find out what that means, I'll update! (via tfwa)

Note: Versilia is a region in Tuscany.

Lol! – “If I find out what that means, I’ll update!”

So, unless you have a fancy optic reader thingy, it’s all a bit of a case of The Emperor’s New Clothes?

I really am not at all sure what they mean, but I’d be surprised if you needed equipment at home — what would be the point??

That’s hilarious – now, if they could only get the SMELL OF THE PERFUME to come out of my computer so I can sniff it, that would be an awesome use of technology!

That’s ‘Texas cedar’ in two now (also in the Carthusia, I think). Is it the new PC sandalwood.
The optical reader thing is really high concept. I like Cynthia’s idea of a new smell-o-vision.

It’s a real note — juniperus mexicana — and smells different from “true” cedar (cedrus). Maybe I don’t understand your meaning?

I don’t understand my meaning! I thought some sandalwoods were getting scarce so maybe this was a substitute.
See if I had the smell thru the computer thing, I’d know!

Ah, I get it. No, don’t think this is at all related to the sandalwood scarcity.

Funny how well that old glass bottle has done for Chanel No. 5. Sounds like the design team spent more time on bottle design than on the actual juice.

      Perhaps! I haven’t smelled these.

Wait a sec, the perfume is going to TALK to me? I’m stupefied… What’s it going to say, what sort of voice does it have, and does it have a funny accent — preferably Chico Marx-style Italian?

OK, now I’m trying to imagine what each of the scents I own would sound like… so far I’ve got Bandit sounding like Greta Garbo (“gimme a viskey, baby, and don’t be stingy”) and CdG 2 Woman being all clipped and efficient and British. Hmm, poll idea?!

I really have no idea what it will say, but apparently it can say it in 4 languages.
