Divine Eau Divine ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 5 August 2009 40 Comments

Eau Divine perfume by Divine

Divine has launched Eau Divine, the brand's first unisex fragrance:

Crystalline, the first notes emerge : from the top, eau divine combines the green coolness of Italian citrus with the sparkle of spices : star anise, rose hip, ginger and nutmeg.

The heart of the pyramid is more tender. Orange flower and sweet violet prolong the pure energy of the first moments for a while but then delicately induce the subtle opening of deep notes.

White amber, hot musk and labdanum only then reveal their lingering and generous sensuality.

Divine Eau Divine is available in two bottle styles, in a variety of sizes from 50 to 200 ml. (via press release)

Sounds nice. Would sound nicer if they hired a better writer. ;)

A better translator is what they need, yes! But I’m more forgiving when the product is good, and Divine generally does a great job.

LOL! Those notes do sound like my cup of tea. I’ve not tried any Divine fragrances. Off to look them up…

Haven’t tried any of the line either. Hot musk? I like warm musk, but hot musk doesn’t put good associations in my head. Otherwise, sounds interesting.

yes, that’s right—Rapple is to blame for this one! She sent me the sample! I had no idea it was a TRAP! there I was carrying in the mail, completely innocent of the evil money sucking vial within…minding my own busines, not lemming hardly anything at all! Then POW! sigh….resisitance really IS futile.

This sounds quite lovely. What does rose hip smell like in a perfume? I’ve eaten rose hips in a torte, but never paused to think about them as a scent.

I have Rose Hip extract and it has a slight herbaceous odor and that’s it.

I’m afraid I don’t know either. In the few teas I’ve had, they have a fruity taste.

I love Divine. This sounds a little too light and sparkly for me, but I’m willing to give it a chance.

So there’s Divine by Divine (which I love) and this is Eau Divine – but it doesn’t appear to be at all similar to the regular Divine. Does anyone else find this a wee bit confusing?

If the company were called something else, I’d find it confusing, yes. But since “Divine” is the company name, I don’t expect Eau Divine to be a flanker to Divine.

Maybe for their next release they’ll go the Cacharel and Juicy Couture route and name it Divine Divine.

I like the bottles, but is it really necessary to repackage for his/hers? I know AG does this, but eau de Cartier is the same bottle for both sides.

It does sound lovely! I’m intrigued by the violet/orange blossom heart. :)

I don’t know. I’ve always found it “quaint” that AG does it, but perhaps their customers love it.

I liked the vintage cigarette lighter style of the other Divine bottles. This is really incongruent with the rest of the line.

Divine has a very generous sample program – I’ve just received a box of their samples and have been working through them (slowly). Unfortunately, this one wasn’t in it.

White amber and hot musk…. or is it hot amber and white musk?!? ;-)

How, pray tell me, does one order Divine samples? Just checked out their website and am cornfuzzled… thanks for the help.

(On another note, my bottles of L’Heure Bleue parfum and vtg Coty L’Origan parfum arrived today. Lovely! Anybody want samps?)

        Mals:
When you’re on their home page,

        http://www.divine.fr/gb/naissagb.htm

there are two rows along the bottom listing the fragrances . One row is “Discover” and the other is “Order”. On the Order row, click on any fragrance. Then from that page, click on the red arrow along the right hand side. You should now be on a page that’s just a big list of all of the perfumes in different sizes. Scroll down until you see Sample Coffret.

They sent a really nice hand written note that began: Chere Mademoiselle. I was very impressed!

I don’t understand what the 12 samples are in the coffret, though. Don’t they only have 8-9 scents?

            Joe:
I only got 8 samples! So I’m not sure what else they’re including. If they include both of these new ones, it’s still only 10 scents.

Well, now we have to order them, if for no other reason than to find out what the mystery samples are…

          • Robin says:

            I don’t see 12 scents either.

I haven’t met a Divine I didn’t like. Some more than others, but even the ones I wouldn’t purchase are lovely and extremely well made. They’re also fantastic for samples, have amazing customer service, and the bottle of L’Homme de Coeur (a sexy, almost chilly and aloof iris) arrived elegantly and beautifully wrapped with samples. L’Inspiratrice and L’ame Soeur are gorgeous, as well, and the original Divine (the now discontinued Mary Kay’s Acapella being Divine’s less formal and more brash twin), is just beautiful. I always think silk and strands of pearls when I smell them, though I’ve been known to spritz on a little just to go out with friends or a casual dinner. ;)

Yay for a new scent! The orange blossom and violet middle has me really intrigued, too.

I love everything you said here. :) This last February was the first time I have been to the opera, and being an obsessive perfumista my first thought was, “But what fragrance will I wear?” Divine was the first thing that came to my mind. Perfect with a string of pearls and a silk dress…absolutely! My only regret from that night (aside from going to a pretty terrible opera) is that I didn’t wear enough to overpower whatever atrocity the woman next to me was wearing.

I just have to say that I finally got around to trying this today and it is absolutely perfect for summer. The citrus is bright, the flowers soft, a bit powdery and a little sweet and the drydown is classy yet accessible while still smelling very much like a “perfume” rather than a cologne, fruit salad or herb garden… Not that those aren’t nice when the mood strikes.

I received a sample with my second order of L’Homme de Coeur with a note suggesting Eau de Divine is intended for summer, and it is a perfect fit. A huge bottle wouldn’t be necessary, but I’d love 30-50ml for the summer months and find the blend of citrus, orange blossom, violet and musk positively addictive. :)

Ah Divine, you’ve got me again. ;)
