With thanks to Kevin, here is a rundown on the fragrance coverage in the June issues of GQ and Details (we already did Allure this month), and as always, please comment on any fragrance coverage you've seen in other fashion & beauty magazines lately:
GQ
Cover: Christian Bale.
Scent strips: Diesel Only the Brave, Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme, Yves Saint Laurent L’Homme, Guess by Marciano.
Editorial coverage: Look Smart, Smell Good — Scent critic Chandler Burr picks his seasonal favorites, including DKNY Men, Prada Infusion d’Homme and Hermès Eau de Pamplemousse Rose. According to Burr, the latter is "by far the coolest, most startling, most seductive of the three" (p. 54).
Details
Cover: Bradley Cooper.
Scent strips: Yves Saint Laurent L’Homme, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Pour Homme, Burberry The Beat for Men.
Editorial coverage: Nada.
i really grew to love Infusion D’Homme. not for every day and any occasion, but when i wear white and want to smell clean. it really has that “clean white crisp shirt” thing to it. also, there’s a drink available in Austria, which tastes just like IDH smells!
It’s a great scent, although I still like the women’s version better.
I never buy GQ (for what I would think would be obvious reasons), but am tempted to, just for the Chandler Burr article. I love his blog.
You could always flip through in the supermarket 😉
Thanks for the idea. I’m glad I didn’t buy it–it was just a little tiny sidebar. 🙂 Would’ve been a waste of money.
Ah, good to know, thanks!
I *heart* Bradley Cooper, ever since he was the on ‘Alias’.
Interesting that Chandler Burr likes Hermes EdPR. Maybe it’s a bit less “sweaty grapefruit” on a man???
This was the first I’d heard of Bradley Cooper…but I love EdPR too 🙂
My sister just got the July Cosmo. Do you want me to fill you in on the perfume coverage or have you already done it?
Actually there isn’t much in there, so I’ll go ahead and mention it.
Cover: Lauren Conrad
Scent Strips: None
Editorial Coverage: Beauty Loot on page 80 shows several summer fragrances (including Prada Infusion de Fleur d’Oranger, Versace Versense, DKNY Love from New York among others).
Thanks so much! Why are the men getting so many more scent strips than the ladies this month, I wonder?
I thought it was very odd that there wasn’t a single scent strip, not that those do much good anyway!
I detest them, and usually rip them out & throw them away…but seems like a bad sign when there aren’t any -> fragrance companies not spending $ on advertising.
YSL L’Homme, i definitely have a soft spot for. I just find it really really…pleasant. Which is not a screaming endorsement, but its just generally nice. Nice and pleasant.
I really liked the Pamplemousse Rose. I really wanted grapefruit juice afterward. Its something I would definitely consider buying. Fresh and bright, but deeper. I enjoyed the “sweaty grapefruit” descriptor LaMaroc threw out…i didn’t find it overly sweaty, but certainly not a totally pure crisp citrus. But, I like a little “dirty” in things…not overwhelming, and only complimentary, but dirty none the less.
No, it isn’t overwhelmingly sweaty. I like a touch of sweat. Annick Goutal’s Eau de Sud is the perfect amount…although would guess it’s been reformulated.
