Le Couvent des Minimes Orange Blossom / Fleur d’Oranger ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 5 May 2009 24 Comments

Les Couvent des Minimes Fleur d'Oranger perfumeLe Couvent des Minimes will launch Orange Blossom / Fleur de Oranger this month.* The fragrance is a limited edition, and hopes to evoke a "spring walk in a field of Mediterranean orange trees".

The notes feature tangerine, raspberry, orange, orange blossom, jasmine, petitgrain, vanilla, musk and precious wood.

Le Couvent des Minimes Orange Blossom / Fleur d'Oranger will be available in 50 ml Eau De Toilette. (via beaute-addict)

* Le Couvent des Minimes has had an Orange Blossom fragrance in the past; I do not know if this is the same formula.

Another orange blossom; that just feeds my craving for all things orange….but then there’s that dreaded raspberry rearing its smelly head.

If it’s the same as it was, it had lots of fans. I never got to try it.

I’m a newbie, so this is the first I’ve ever heard of this line and/or this fragrance. If I happen across it, I’ll give it a sniff….but that raspberry thing will keep me from seeking it out. And only on skin if I have enough wet-ones in the car to scrub it off if need be. (always prepared for perfume disaster.)

I never tried it in the version sold at BBW, but it does sound lovely.

Seems to be pretty orange-blossom-focused, so maybe the raspberry isn’t too much. I usually find that so-called “raspberry” notes in a base are so faint on me that they might as well not be there. Berry top notes, however, are pretty overpowering – although I did like Hanae Mori, I never, never, ever want to smell Insolence edp ever ever again. EVER.

Hmm. Brand owned by L’Occitane but sold at BBW? Interesting. Never heard of it. This definitely seems to be the Year of the Orange Blossom. Good thing I’m warming up to that note lately… though not enough to want ten variations of it. :D

Yep. I guess L’Occitane just doesn’t want to sell other brands in their own stores?

Although adding…not sure if BBW still carries these, haven’t checked lately.

Just FYI, the Couvent website only shows “where to buy” locations in Canada & France, and BBW doesn’t have products on their website.

Good grief; These scents sure do seem to get around to all the perfume houses in a season. L’Occitane’s Fleur d’Oranger… now this.

Agree. This one will probably be much cheaper though.

I am interested :D I will try to remember to smell this one.

And btw, BBW no longer carries Le Couvent. :/

In Canada Le Couvent des Minimes is sold in drugstores. The lines is mostly hand, body, and face creams. (the best gardner’s hand cream ever btw)

It might be here too, I don’t know…Bigelow Chemists used to sell the line but they don’t seem to have it now.

I went to try it today….
The nozzle on the Fleur d’Oranger tester was broken :-(
But I was able to test the Lavender & Acacia and the Verbena & Lemon
The Lavender & Acacia was not to my liking. If there was lavender in there, then my nose must have been off. It was sweet and slightly musky, but no lavender! I guess it was all acacia?
The Verbena & Lemon was like a burst of bright, freshly cut, mouth-watering, slightly tangy lemon. But within 10 min it turns to a mellow subtle verbena. I LOVED it!
I decided to give myself 24 hrs to think, but I am going back tomorrow!

Yes, I think that’s the nicest of the 1st three they did, although I don’t like it nearly as well as the L’Occitane.

Bath and Body Works discontinued this last year. It is the most amazing fragrance–smells exactly like the mockorange shrub we had in the yard when I was a child. Does anyone know if this is the same formula? I have searched everywhere for this and am actually hanging on to my last jar of body creme.

I got Le Couvent Orange & Cinnamon body lotion as a gift last christmas but I only got to try it a few weeks ago.
It smells so nice that I don’t want to wear any perfume over it. =)
But wearing it everyday is a little too much.
