CB I Hate Perfume Premium Accords

Posted by Robin on 7 April 2009 19 Comments

CB I Hate Perfume Premium AccordsCB I Hate Perfume has launched a new Premium Accords series:

For quite a while now, I've been getting a lot of requests for certain Individual Accords either in Water Perfume or Travel/Trial size, which I completely understand. [...] So I've been thinking about what can be done about this for some time and have finally come up with a solution - CB Premium Accords. I've sorted out the 10 most popular Individual Accords, we've done all the necessary developmental work to turn them into Water Perfumes and are now offering all of them in Premium Perfume Absolute, Water Perfume and 2 ML Travel/Trial Premium Absolutes. Now people will be able to spray many of their favorite Individual Accords and can sample a good selection from the CB Accord Archive.

There is one significant difference between the Premium Accord Absolutes and the Individual Accord Absolutes. All Premium Accords are blended at a double concentration. This means they are much richer and more effusive than the Basic Individual Accords. These are perfect for those who absolutely LOVE certain scents. For those who prefer the lighter concentration however, we will continue to offer these scents in their original Individual Accord format.

The Premium Accord fragrances are Smoky Tobacco, Burnt Wood, Soaked Earth, North Atlantic, Crushed Fig Leaf, Beautiful Launderette, Old Leather, Grass, Wildflower Honey and White Ginger Flower. Look for Chocolate Box and Pumpkin Pie later in the year.

The Premuim Accord series is available in 15 ml Perfume Absolute ($50), 2 ml Perfume Absolute ($10) or 100 ml Water Perfume ($60). (via cbihateperfume)

Ooooh! Where, where is violet empire?
    :((
Well, I appreciate the concept a lot. I think many fans will be happy of the news: somehow the water fragances needed a bit of amp, imo.
I have never tested the scents included in the premium accord series: while there are others that appealed to me more, I’m happy nonetheless.
I really like the brand and am so sad it is so poorly distributed in my country. Come in Italy, CB, come!!!!

Violet Empire wasn’t in the Accord series…it’s already available in Water Perfume & Samples (these are just the Individual Accords that used to only be available in Perfume Absolute).

I love the Water Perfumes as is, I just use them like body sprays, but I know some people wish they were stronger.

ops! sorry, I misunderstood: I thought he was making some of his water perfumes more concentrated – I belong to those who wish his perfumes were stronger.
BTW, do you know if the oils are more persistent?
They are not available here for test/buy and am wondering if it is worth to go through the extra-long and costly custom procedure to get my hands on my favorites from the line.

The oils are definitely more concentrated. I don’t know if they last longer…some people say they do, but I haven’t really tried to do a 1 on 1 test. I’m not a fan of oils in any case, and have been very happy with the water formulas.

I spilled a couple of drops of Violet Empire on my bathrobe and it lasted for over a week. I could smell it each time I walked into the room where it hung.

            Wow, that’s pretty impressive!

Ooh, Crushed Fig Leaf and Grass in double-concentration… I’ve never tried either, but they sound like things I’d like to get 2ml of.

Too bad they didn’t put Boiled Rice in water perfume version — there was a LOT of interest in that accord on PP a little while back as a good “de-sweetener” for layering and to add that KenzoAmour vibe.

In reference to the above, I still need to try Violet Empire. So little time….

Joe, I’ve only briefly sniffed the accords series, but lots of them were great fun. I’d like to smell boiled rice too!

I second that, the crushed fig and grass might be wonderful! I’ve never tried any of this line so this might be a nice time to try. I wonder if it’s close to the old Gap Grass?

Robin, Gap did re-release the Grass scent and it smelled different to my nose. But my allergies are really acting up, so it might be me too.

Hey — I did finally find a tester! It was much “fresher” and less “grassy” than I expected, so was wondering if it was not quite the same as everyone has always told me. They didn’t have any scent strips though, so I had to spray the air & sniff…

$10 for 2 mL of perfume absolute? So you could buy the whole set for $100?

    That is very, very tempting.

I have Tea Rose in water perfume, and it lasts all day, though it’s a bit pricier – I don’t know if the concentration is any higher. Does anyone know how much it would cost to get one of CB’s bespoke frags?

No, the concentration in the water perfume is lower. And sorry, I don’t…did you check the CBIHP website?

    Thanks for great news!
I love CB I Hate Perfume, and I have a few of the accords, so I’m interested to smell some of the new premium accords in higher concentration!

To comment on concentration/lasting power – the only CBIHP fragrance that I’ve been able to directly compare in absolute and water perfume is Burning Leaves. The absolute is longer lasting (at least all day on me) but it does stay quite close to the skin. The water perfume can be easier to smell, but doesn’t last as long.

I have several of the accords, and I’ve definitely noticed that some of them are stronger than others. Sweet Smoke, for example, lasts about as long as the Burning Leaves absolute, and the Mysore Sandalwood accord is also quite long lasting (and utterly delicious). Hay doesn’t last quite as long, but it’s still longer lasting than Grass.

The only accord I own which will be part of this new Premium series is Grass. I think it’s good that he’s made a stronger concentration of this. I don’t wear my Grass accord alone unless it’s extremely hot out, or I want something that’s really barely there. I do like it for layering, though. It’s more of a living/growing grass smell than a more pungent cut grass smell.

It’s awesome that these premium accords will be available in the 2ml sample sizes. I have 2ml samples of many of the CBIHP fragrances, and it’s a great way to try them out. Since they’re absolute concentration, 2mls actually goes pretty far!

Thanks for the great detail Proximity,
Since I’ve never tried the line before, I decided to try a few samples, At the Beach 1966, Patchouli, Crushed Fig Leaf and Grass.

    Hi all,
I received my samples of At the Beach 1966, Patchouli, Crushed Fig Leaf and Grass. So far, I’ve tried Grass and Fig Leaf both are nice scents.
Grass is soft and green to me, sillage is moderate, and the staying power is about 5 hours.
Fig Leaf is fruity soft and green, and the sillage/staying power is moderate.
I probably would like the Fig Leaf enough to purchase it but I really need to wait until my allergy season is over and try them all again to be sure.

Thanks for the update! I should get a sample of the Fig Leaf…also keep swearing I’m going to buy some Green Fig lotion from Body Time.
