Guess by Marciano for Men ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 26 March 2009 16 Comments

Guess by Marciano for Men fragrance

Guess has launched Guess by Marciano for Men, the masculine counterpart to last year's Guess by Marciano for Women:

GUESS by Marciano for Men adds a fresh and unexpected twist to the traditional masculine persona. A top note of ginger mandarin and iced tonic freshness is heightened with freshly crushed black pepper.

I'll update with more detailed notes if I can find them. Guess by Marciano for Men is available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching grooming products. (via shop.guess)

Update: additional notes include lavender, sage, violet, neroli, star fruit, rosemary, ebony wood, patchouli, amber, leather and musk.

Good luck trying to find the notes. I’ve been looking for a few weeks aside from emailing Guess themselves with no .

This stuff is “nice”. Well rounded woody ambery spice and very subtle BUT gives you a scent aura. I didn’t buy it immediately. I sprayed some on in the store during my lunch break. I let the fragrance waft around a bit for the remaining 4 hours of the day and did go back to buy it before going home. It’s in the same league as Davidoff Adventure.

I find it odd that a semi-heavy fragrance gets released before summer.

Well, you know, I have to admit that when I post that I’ll add the notes later if I find them, I actually just mean that if I happen to come across them…which does happen quite often. But was not planning to actually search for them. If Parlux would prefer that we not know the notes, I can live with that!

Where did you try it? I was in Macy’s over the weekend & didn’t see it. Although admittedly I didn’t look for it either.

I was in my local BonTon. I was looking for any of the new stuff that was out and saw this. I asked abot it and the SA said, “We know absolutely nothing about it. They sent us a shipment: no samples, no information or how to market it. Just a few bottles of the EdT and the bath products. We’re just confused about it.”

Note on the bottle. It is truly nice. Heavy glass and shiny. It’s quite classy.

That’s so funny. Apparently Parlux doesn’t want even stores to know about it!

“Fresh and unexpected twist…”? Uh huh.

Actually, this sounds kind of nice. I love the ginger mandarin/ crushed black pepper notes, but am skeptical about the iced tonic one.

I love the look of your new site, darling!

    Hugs!

Violetnoir: I don’t deny that those sound somewhat good on paper, but I’m so jaded that I expect nothing from this kind of launch.

If those notes appeal to you, try Bvlgari Blv for men (which doesn’t have any pepper, I believe). It also didn’t wow me, but it’s not bad.

        Thank you, Joe!

I usually steer clear of men’s fragrances, but I have to admit that I love a nice black pepper note. The one in Le Labo’s Poivre 23 is fantastic!

R, I’m skeptical about iced tonic too. Could mean “nice sparkle effect”, could mean “massive fresh note”.

That bottle is lovely. I think my partner will like the sound of this one… hard to say, as anything “iced” tends to send him screaming.

It is a nice looking bottle! I didn’t like the women’s when I saw it in person though.

I can’t remember if this smelled exactly like D&G’s The One or Rocawear 9IX but if it’s 9IX it mimics I’ll get it because the bottle is 100% better.

Oh, I kind of liked the Rocawear bottle! Haven’t smelled this one yet though.

very nice perfume I found out it smell similar to the new Paco Rabane’s One Million. Most importantly is cheaper than one million
