Barth by Alexandre Barthet ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 6 February 2009 19 Comments

Barth d'Alexandre Barthet fragranceFrench artist & designer Alexandre Barthet will launch his debut fragrance this month. The new scent is entitled simply Barth. According to Cofinluxe, who holds the license for the new scent...

Alexandre Barthet has created his perfume as a tailor-made Haute Couture accessory, designed to reflect his approach to fashion: lighthearted, colourful, contemporary, glamorous, sophisticated and emotional. Alexandre Barthet’s BARTH is a declaration of love to the young, trendy, chic woman who doesn’t take herself, life, or fashion too seriously. A woman with a whimsical approach to fashion, who seeks quality above all else. A woman with a natural, quintessentially modern elegance.

Barth was developed by perfumer Michel Almairac, and the notes include freesia, grapefruit, blackcurrant, cedar, amber, peony, peach, musk and caramel.

Barth d'Alexandre Barthet will be available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (quote via trend-news, additional information via cosmeticsinternational)

In my head, that sounds horribly like 'Barf'. But I suspect it's supposed to be pronounced 'Bart', as in Simpson? Wait, that's not any better…

hmmm, a Bart Simpson fragrance…loud, obnoxious, never ages and you won't let your kids anywhere near it………well, the never aging part sounds okay……

LOL! Barth is my maiden name… and yes, I endured a lot of “Barf” jokes growing up. 😉 So of course I will have to give this a sniff, but it sounds a little generic based on the notes.

I'm glad someone else here thinks like a 3-year-old, because “barf” is exactly what popped into my head too!

To me, this sounds like three different women.

It does! But then, I'm not the target audience, not young, trendy or chic!!

Do you think they could create a scent for the old, forgetful and grumpy? 😛

    Bart is my dad's name!!
That bottle doesn't look like a Haute Couture accessory to me

I think it's going to be relatively cheap…not a high end release. So, might as well try it…

    Existentialist, that is too true!

That bottle is horrible. I don't know anything about Alexandre Barth but you would think that an artist and designer would be a bit more picky when it comes to bottle design.

I don't know anything about him either, but can't argue about that bottle. Not my taste…but then, I'm not in the target market.

Alexandre Barthet has created his perfume as a tailor-made Haute Couture accessory

ummmm, how is this a tailor-made haute couture accessory? Sounds more like mass produced dreck to me but what do I know? I reckon it is about time some of these companies tried to cater to the slightly older crowd cos we are the ones with the money!

Looks incomplete without a Barbie sticker. Maybe it slipped off.

Am on the chase for a spring fragrance – how about a lazy poll on the topic of the quintessential spring fragrance BTW? Anyway am keeping my eyes peeled for anything new and nice and am afraid will end up with Ma Dame as it is, when you get used to it, quite nice and less chemical by the minute.

Barf's list of notes remind me of Sweet Darling.

Diorissimo! There, now you don't need a poll 😉
