LesNEZ Manoumalia, Jean-Louis Scherrer Miss Scherrer ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 22 December 2008 15 Comments

LesNEZ Manoumalia perfumeLesNEZ will launch Manoumalia in January. The new fragrance was developed by perfumer Sandrine Videault, and was inspired by a trip Videault took to Wallis, in the South Pacific, to learn about the use of fragrance materials in the island's "olfactive culture". Wallisians use scented materials as decoration in the form of scented necklaces and bracelets, as hair coloring (sandalwood dust) and as makeup (curcuma).

Manoumalia, the resulting perfume, is a floral woody amber with notes of fagraea, tiare, ylang ylang, sandalwood dust, vetiver and amber.

LesNEZ Manoumalia will be available in Eau de Toilette. (via press release from LesNEZ)

Miss Scherrer perfume by Jean Louis ScherrerJean-Louis Scherrer has launched Miss Scherrer, a new fruity floral fragrance for women.

The fragrance notes include citron, pear, blackcurrant, rose, tiare, lily of the valley, musk, cedar and sandalwood.

Jean-Louis Scherrer Miss Scherrer is available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum. (via cosma-parfumeries, osmoz)

Miss Scherrer is pretty much every single perfume that has been released this year

Hi! The Manoumalia will be a must-try for me. The fagraea (thanks for the link – I didn't know this name), called the “puakenikeni” in Hawai'i, has a beautiful fragrance. It's used in Punono by Saffron James, which I love! I wonder what the quality of the sandalwood will be.

I'm looking forward to trying it too — the first 3 from Les Nez were all very nicely done.

The Manoumalia sounds nice, I don't think I've ever tried the line before either.

Miss Scherrer sounds like a well-behaved scent, but also so like many other releases in the past few years. Not too much interest there. Hard to show interest in M Scherrer when I love the original.

According to basenote, LesNEZ have free samples to give away – just need to email them your address.

R, weird — the Manoumalia isn't showing on the website, but they have a Turtle Vetiver by Doyen, have you seen?

The Unicorn Spell is very worth trying! Actually so is Let Me Play the Lion. The musk one was over my head, unfortunately…

I know they were giving them away to newsletter subscribers, glad to hear they're giving them to everyone!

I did see it, but it wasnt' in the press release (I take it it's more of a “project”?) and I'm in such a rush I ignored it…Xmas, new computer, you name it…can't keep up.

But I'd like to try anything called “Turtle Vetiver”…

Oooh – Puakenekene is an amazing fragrance! I'll be putting this and Punono on my list for sure.

Hi Tama. Just thought I'd check on the Punono for you, because I don't want to mislead. I see that it's described as “an homage to the Puakenikeni flower”, but it doesn't actually list that flower as an ingredient. I do think it smells like the flower, however. It is a warm, spicy, sexy floral, IMO.

I subscribe to the newsletter, which I get in German, and they offered a free sample, free postage. I wrote back (in not-impeccable German) saying that I'd love a sample, but would be willing to pay the postage, as I lived in the U.S. They wrote back (in impeccable English) saying that it was no problem. Wow!
I am a big fan of Let Me Play the Lion, which is terrific on my skin. But this one sounds amazing and very different from the first 3. Sandalwood dust? hmmmmm.

Yes, they're really nice! And I think they're sending lots of samples to the US. It does sound very different from the first 3 — but I think it's nice that they're using different perfumers.
