La Perla has launched J'aime La Nuit, a follow-up to 2007's J'aime for Women and this year's J'aime Les Fleurs. The tag line: "un nouveau secret nocturne".
J'aime La Nuit is a woody floriental fragrance with notes of grape blossom, nashi pear, grains of paradise, hellebore rose, jasmine, black orchid, amyris wood, cashmere wood and amber.
La Perla J'aime La Nuit is available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum. (via accademiadelprofumo.it)
Other recent launches from La Perla: Grigioperla Hedo White.
So…. the new nighttime secret is that women wear scaffolding?
The juice sounds okay, and the bottle is fine – but that ad. Ugh.
Hmm. At least it's not the same old list of usual suspect notes. Thanks for the link regarding grains of paradise. I don't think I've seen “grape blossom” before either, for whatever that's worth.
Hellebore rose must be the latest hot product from IFF since it's popping up everywhere — speaking of which, I'm wearing Kenzo Winter Flowers today (had to snag myself a bottle and managed to do so for an absolute steal — $27 — on the bay).
I was looking at the ad and was a bit giddy “OH! A nighttime floral LEATHER fragrance!”
But then read the notes – no leather? That ad does not match well.
This is the winner contestant for the biggest nightmare ad of the year!
I remember reading an article recently about grains of paradise becoming the new trendy ingredient at gourmet restaurants. Wonder if it's going to be the new pink pepper in perfumery?
Could it be modern woods for women? How novel!
All snarks aside, the notes are intriguing and I think the leather outfit is pretty damn hot (what a sweet octogenarian I once met at a lingerie shower would dub a “5 minute outfit”)
Scaffolding, LOL!
But is that leather?? Didn't think it was, although it's hard to tell. I'll have to look for a bigger image.
But surely we could do worse, LOL?
Gosh, if it is, I guess I'd better go taste some…if I've ever tasted them, I wasn't even aware.
Ok, so you're the 2nd person to say leather. I really didn't think that was leather. Will have to go peek at the La Perla website.
Ah another load of rubbish. This scent sounds BORING!
It used to be my dream to be a lingerie fashion designer and I had my first collection already designed and my perfume all thought out (but now I'm going to be a German major so all of my dreams have been thrown out the window btw)
It probably would have been a leather scent.
I really don't like anything retro and I don't like how most lingerie brands do the retro 50's thing.
I love La Perla's designs, but this doesn't interest me.
If it isn't leather, it's pretending to be.
It is–how you say–referencing leather. And certain practices associated with leather.
Yes, that's quite so. Still, didn't look at it and think immediately that it would be a leather fragrance. But then, I'm slow 😉
Well then that's another you needn't chase after…
Nope, I looked at that and thought “Gee, that looks uncomfortable!” (and chilly)
“Hellebore Rose” makes me smile 🙂 The only thing hellebores and roses have in common is that 'Lenten Rose' is the common name for hellebore.
Hey, you could be a German major and still end up being a fashion designer…weirder things have happened, and many of us don't end up in a job related to our education. So you might design the perfect leather scent yet…
It sounds a little different than most mainstream fragrances…good thing. Probably not for seasoned perfumistas though.
Thanks for the links Robin.
When I saw the ad, I didn't assume it would be a leather scent but it seems like it should be a little more… unique? The notes sound like your generic ~*nuit*~ scent.
I think the AP perfume matches their aesthetic pretty well… but I think its supposed to be retro-ish and I already said that I didn't like that.
I even had the interior decor for my shop envisioned!
It definitely would have been more CdG than AP.
haha I appreciated the smile. I'm a gardening enthusiast as well as perfume lover, so I couldn't help but comment on that.
Then my apologies — I used to be an avid gardener, but never grew hellebore so what do I know.
