Perfume coverage in the December issue of Allure, and please comment on any fragrance coverage you've seen in other fashion & beauty magazines lately:
Cover: Scarlett Johansson.
Scent strips: Beckham Signature, Christian Dior J'Adore, Donna Karan Cashmere Mist, Armani Code.
Editorial coverage: In the Beauty Reporter section ~ a snippet on "New Bohemian" scents with patchouli (p.66), a "Smell This" feature in which passersby comment on the new Jeanne Lanvin (p. 70), and a men's grooming column about Sean John and his new "I Am King" fragrance (p. 72).
Presents Moment (p. 98) is a feature on gifts, and includes the Chanel Fragrance Wardrobe and Nina by Nina Ricci (p. 98), Bond no. 9 New York Eau de New York (p. 106) and the limited edition By Kilian bottles from artist Sophie Matisse (p. 108).
Gawd in this pic, SJ looks like Debbie Harry. I remember a Vogue cover from the late 70's (did I just admit to that??!) that has the same look.
Hey, she does! I didn't think of that, but I also didn't recognize her when I first picked up my issue.
Robin, or anyone, plleeeease quote from “Diddy's” wonderfully tasteless Q & A piece. It's unreal. 😉
LOL — ok, some tidbits:
“People are saying that it's arrogant, that it's about myself; no–it's how I feel about all men. If you treat and respect yourself as a king, you're more apt to respect others”.
“After I shower, I don't use a towel–I air-dry. So that's like ten minutes. I walk around while I dry. While I'm still damp, I spray some I Am King on me so it can seep into my pores.”
“My girl has to have her legs waxed, Brazilian wax, nails. A pretty manicure or pedicure really attracts me. And I like when a woman gets her brows threaded.”
If Diddy's game to get a Brazilian wax himself, then all's fair in love, war and exfoliation! Otherwise, Oh, brother!
Thanks so much! It is interesting to see scent strips for these older perfumes, esp. the original Beautiful. Probably a smart move.
He does say something about his shaving habits, but I feel I've already quoted as much as I ought to…
My Friday Los Angeles Times had scent strips from Macy's for Opium & Oscar! Talk about old school! I can see the stalwarts being purchased for mothers-with-signature-scents across the land, but it was weird to see scent strips for these oldies — as if they're really hoping to reel in some new consumers.
You know, that reminds me that I read something recently about how the classics are selling better in the recession that newer scents. Maybe that's what's happening…
Um, yes! He shares those personal details quite freely. Classy guy. 😉
Diddy indulges in the BROzilian? Well, I guess turnabout's fair play, eh?
I was really disappointed by this month's issue. It's the December issue for crying out loud, a holiday issue, and they should have a feature on perfume!
Do I seem irritated, R?
Hugs!
I swear this is at least the third time that I've read about his predilection for hairless nether regions. Trying desperately to erase that information from my mind…
Please! Can't that character just vanish from this planet! Please!
He's so absurd it's not even funny.
W this month was sorely lacking in any perfume talk and barely a mention of anything – the new Michael Kors Island varietyand that one in the train case got brief mentions in buying guides. Millions of ads, including a multiple-page spread of kaleidoscopic fragrance images for Dillard's.
Scent strips are Flowerbomb, Dior J'Adore, and Vera Wang Yick..er, I mean Look.
Good luck with that 😉
Nope, he uses a razor. And I haven't any further details than that, and don't want any.
Thanks, I love hearing what's in all the mags I don't buy! Esp. happy when it's nothing better than what's in Allure.
I'm afraid he is here to stay!
I don't usually read “New Beauty,” because I don't intend to have plastic surgery or any other “cosmetic” medical procedure, but someone gave me a free copy of the Winter 2008 issue and it *does* have a fragrance feature! lol.
The article has short sections on Your Skin and Scent, How the Brain Processes Scents, Behind the Brands, How to Keep Your Scent Lasting All Day, Unique Formulations, and Color Theory. Nothing earth-shaking, but some good bits for “beginners.”
It pictures fragrances from brands ranging from Lisa Hoffman, YOSH, Nasomatto, and Susanne Lang to Creed, Estee Lauder, Chanel, and Lancome. Not bad, really.
Or could it be that people are buying classic scents in order to recapture a time in their lives when life was happier?
Here Here… I second that.
Various old-fashioned sayings come to mind here, like “familiarity breeds contempt”, or “Be open, be honest, but leave a little mystery”
J, I've never even heard of New Beauty — there's a whole mag devoted to cosmetic procedures? I guess I should have known. Anyway, sounds like it could be an interesting article, will look for it at CVS.
Could be!
