Lilly Pulitzer Beachy, Squeeze & Wink ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 13 November 2008 27 Comments

Lilly Pulitzer Beachy, Squeeze & Wink fragrances

Lilly Pulitzer, the preppy brand known for their brightly colored print dresses, has launched a trio of new fragrances for women: Beachy, Squeeze and Wink.

Beachy (shown above left) ~ "Palm Beach isn't just a place, it's a state of mind. Escape to the beach no matter the season and remind yourself of a time of fun and relaxation." Beachy was developed by perfumer Karine Dubreuil, and the notes feature watermelon, citrus, marine air accord, jasmine, tiare flower, frangipani, salt crystals, amber and vanilla.

Squeeze (shown above center) ~ "At Lilly Pulitzer we believe in squeezing the juice out of life! This signature citrus floral is bright and playful with a whimsical charm." Perfumer Mathilde Bijaoui developed Squeeze; the notes include lychee, pink grapefruit, red currant, lotus blossom, wild rose, sun-drenched woods and water musk.

Wink (shown above right) ~ "We see the world in pink and green! Enjoy any day with this delightfully pink, pretty, and flirty celebration of feminine style and gusto." By perfumer Cecile Krakower, with notes of pear nectar, pink freesia, lush gardens, rose, white lily, violet fields, amber crystals and sensual musk.

Lilly Pulitzer Beachy, Squeeze and Wink are available in 50 ($48) and 100 ml ($68) Eau de Parfum and in matching body products. (quotes via lillypulitzer, additional information via wwd)

I adore the bottles! but the juice of all of them is just so terribly fruity-floral!!! They sound so fruity it is just scary.

I bought the Beachy and have tried to like it. I wore it again, yesterday and there is something weird in the dry-down that reminds me of moth balls. Has anyone else had this experience? Usually, I love aquatic, ocean fragrances, but I will probably try to take this back for an exchange.

Shame — sounds like maybe the musk in the base doesn’t agree with you. Do exchange it!

Guessing these will be popular but not necessarily w/ perfumistas 🙂

Maybe I was subliminally influenced by “Children in Need” up above, but when I saw these bottles all I could think was perfume for babies/toddlers.

And it sounds/looks to me like Lilly Pulitzer is sort of the “new Laura Ashley”…?

No, the aesthetic is pretty different — Laura Ashley is girly-romantic, Lilly Pulitzer is more sporty-preppy. Described once in the Guardian as “The innocent, psychedelia-without-the-darkside palette of Lilly Pulitzer…” and I think that's accurate.

Would guess the scents will reflect that, just as the LA scents were very romantic/feminine/conventional.

LOL — but on reflection you probably didn't mean your original statement in the way I took it, and also probably didn't care to hear my take on the difference in the fashion aesthetics. HA!

Beachy, Squeeze and Wink…my first thought was these would be cute names for pet rats. I like the bottles and colors of the jus, though.

I checked out the fashions site… I just meant that LP is probably the new “hot thing” among girls at “Day Schools” across the Northeast, kind of like LA was back in my day. Not that I went to a Day School, god forbid.

Joe, Lilly Pulitzer has been around for ages (well, since the early 60s, at least), but it undergoes a renaissance from time to time. I think the brand has been targeting younger customers more recently (just like Dior, Burberry, et al.). This is one case in which the bright fruity-floral fragrances really do complement the brand's overall identity!

Yeah, they're probably a good fit with the brand, and guessing they'll do well no matter what they smell like.

Because my head is usually in the gutter or nearby, my first thought at “Squeeze” was, of course, in reference to someone being one's main squeeze and was trying to figure out how they would scent that.
None of these appeal to me much, sorry to say, but they are cute.
    Rats, yes! Or maybe elves.

I am just curious about the “salt crystals” as a perfume ingredient…

I thought of little Pomeranians… which many people do compare to rats!

How funny we both thought they were good pet names!

Get that mind out of the gutter — it's Squeeze because Lily Pulitzer started out in business with a juice stand 🙂

    Elves!

I have to admit… each of these sound kinda refreshingly feminine and playful! I am not turned of by Fruity anything, in fact i love many many many a fruity floral (when done well of course) and these sound as if some thought, imagination and care were put into these fragrances, the colors of the bottles are quite uplifting and upbeat and i think the fragrances will be quite nice. the notes of them surely sounds luscious and tropical, especially Beachy which from the notes seems to have quite the “Juicy Couture” vibe to it (AND I LOVE JUICY COUTURE'S SIGNATURE FRAGRANCE) Watermelin, Tiare, Frangipani, Vanilla Jasmine… Sounds Beautiful. So i will be rooting for these to be as promising as i think they will be!

These scents are so tempting! (closet preppy).

We have this dumb festival here called Apple Blossom and the colors are pink and green, so in my mind pink and green will always be associated with it
These don't sound very appealing to me, and I'm really not into the preppy aesthetic.

Beachy is like Azuree Soleil without the coconut. I may be tempted to try it, but must hide the bottle. I would not be caught dead with such a childish-looking bottle it's a total disgrace LOL

I don't know that I'm a closet preppy, but I really love some of the LP prints myself.

Pink & green = preppy to me, and I'm not really into it either.
