Amouage has launched Lyric, a duo of fragrances intended to redefine the the use of rose:
Deep, smoky and intense, Lyric features notes of rose in an mysterious and entirely unprecedented fashion.
These new fragrances continue the narrative started last year with the launch of Amouage's anniversary fragrance, Jubilation - recounting a mystical story that leads each of us on our own personal journey.
Lyric Woman (shown) ~ "Beyond the transient beauty and purity of Lyric lingers a poignant song without a beginning and an end. Inspired by the rose, Lyric is a floral oriental fragrance suspended in time with a mythical melody." The notes feature bergamot, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, rose, angelica, jasmine, ylang ylang, geranium, orris, oakmoss, musk, wood, patchouli, vetiver, sandalwood, vanilla, tonka bean and frankincense.
Lyric Man ~ "Evoking the sombre sound of eternity this spicy oriental fragrance is a dedication to the rose infused with angelica. Created for the confident gentleman who dares to desire." With notes of bergamot, lime, rose, angelica, orange blossom, galbanum, ginger, nutmeg, saffron, pine, sandalwood, vanilla, musk and frankincense.
Both Amouage Lyric fragrances are available in 50 and 100 ml. (via amouage, with thanks to Norna for the tip!) Update: see a review of Amouage Lyric Woman.

Other recent releases from Amouage: Homage.
Update: Amouage Lyric Man was developed by perfumer Daniel Visentin, Lyric Woman by Daniel Maurel.
Deep sigh. These sound wonderful (and I'm not a huge fan of perfumes built around the rose lovely note though it is). I think it's the continuation of the Jubilation theme which particularly catches my attention as I love both Jubilations and think them both totally lovely compositions. Do we know the perfumers?
They do sound wonderful, don't they? I was told “The nose for Lyric Man is D. Visentin and the nose for Lyric Woman is D. Maurel.”
Daniel Maurel is a perfumer (it that's who it is);; I don't know the name Visentin & haven't had time to research.
Sorry – adding to mine above – is this the same one reviewed by LT in the latest download/addendum to TG? Possibly not as that is called Homage or something. Clearly going mad as answering self.
No, Homage is different — there's a link to an article about it in the post above.
I hate rose but this sounds AMAZING!!!
I am not a rose fan, but some rose perfumes are special to me. This sounds wonderful and deep/rich. I don't really wanna ask for the price tag, but if I do get to smell it and fall in love with it, then I'll buy it no matter what.
I love and wear Jubilation 25, and am looking forward to trying both scents.
I am wondering, with the presentation of rose in a “mysterious and unusual way” how it presents itself?
Both fragrances sound lovely!
Rose doesn't usually excite me, but Homage was lovely. Must sniff this one out…
I love rose, but usually find it to simplistic. I maybe have to try this. Even POTL Amaze disappointed me. Maybe my skin eats everything but the rose, but it felt so…simple. Not necessarily in a good way, either.
I refuse to sample or even think about this for at least a year or more, because, as I mentioned on Angela's post about Jubilation, I'm still working on starting a savings account for my XXV craving. No more Amouage luxury, please!
I wonder if “Lyric Woman” will smell anything like Parfum D'Empire's “Eau de Suave”–you now, that potpurri-esque/leathery sort of rose blend.
Robin – good news for another rose to add to my rose frag collection….I wish I could smell it through the screen! I'll have to work extra hard to get a sample of this. The notes sound like a wonderful frag to me: Rose, cinnamon, orris, oakmoss, sandalwood — what's not to like!! I'm curious about the frankincense note – how strong or churcy it might be. Obviously a light hand with the incense-y note can be very beautiful with roses, a la Chanel 22, etc. Even the men's Lyric sounds tempting & dark for a woman who could pull it off.
This may end up being my first Amouage — Fragrance Budget RIP.
It's already on Amouage's online store, so you can check the price there. I didn't even peek, LOL…I'm sure it's more than I have at the moment.
I love both of the Jubilations, really, but the men's a wee bit more. Would love to have both bottles, though. Hope these'll be as nice.
Wish I'd been able to smell Homage. Sure I can't afford it though!
I adore rose, and sometimes, the more simplistic the better. These sound nice 🙂
I'm afraid luxury is about all they do, LOL…but they'll be hard-pressed to top either of the Jubilation scents.
Oh dear, I must have my PdE's all mixed up. Must consult notes — I thought that one was a citrus.
You know, on the one hand, wouldn't it be great to smell it through the screen? On the other, wouldn't we all be bankrupt?!? Perhaps delayed gratification is best, LOL…
Indeed….My office would smell like Sephora (maybe better than?); and I would be completely broke! Can you imagine calibrating your monitor for smell? LOL
Gorgeous red bottle…
It sure is 🙂
Me neither. And the SA had to be heavily prompted to come up with the tester (I think Homage is marketed to men? And I tjhink he could tell I wasn't the kind of customer to flash that much cash!)
OH MY STARS AND GARTERS! WOW! do these not sound like superstars of the fragrance world!?!?!? all the most gorgeous notes seem to be suspended in these Juices for men and women! I am particularly fond of Rose in Fragrances, It's my absolute favorite note along with Vanilla and Grapefruit (hmmm…… A fragrance with a Vanilla/Grapefruit/White rose base… sounds liek an idea!) from the sounds of it… i'd wear the Womens Version as well as the men's! LOL! and LOVE THE NAME TOO! So Haunting and Evocative. Can only hope they are as marvellously done as they sound! I have a feeling they very well will be!
As I posted on Basenotes, between my craving for Dia Homme and Jubilation XXV, and now lusting after the new Homage and Lyric, Amouage is the one house at the moment which could seriously bankrupt me!
I'd think it would be marketed as unisex, but who knows.
I hope so too…
It is a shame you aren't lemming everything from a much cheaper brand 😉
What? What? No pink peppercorn? No Creme Brulee or candyfloss? No pink pink of pink? What's wrong with these people?
(Thank God)
Yes, luxury is definitely all they do… I guess what I was trying to say was, “No further Amouage sampling for me, period… I've already been slain by XXV.”
Would love to have both bottles? Check the Beauty Encounter, I am sure you would be surprised!
Let's hope it stays that way 😉
They're the same price there that they are elsewhere — what's the surprise?
I know what you mean — wish they'd do travel sizes!
OH MY GOD…I'm sold. Completely unsniffed – I want it! Think they'll offer a mini bottle?!? PLEASE? 🙂
I NEED TTHE MEN'S ONE NOW!!! That sounds delicious!
Ah, never mind…I see the travel sizes. That's a deal!
I would have said no, but see the comment above…they've got 1 oz travel sizes of the Jubilation scents at beautyencounter. So maybe!
I'm having a hard time deciding which sounds better — I'd take them both 🙂
Oh, I am sooo tempted! 1 oz sizes are perfect.
It's pretty darned tempting. We'll see if I make it through the day.
Exactly!
I've been lusting after Lyric Man since I read about it but the main thing that held me back (apart from the fact that my wardrobe really doesn't need another fragrance) was its price. So imagine my surprise when I saw it for US$140 for the 50ml (!!!) on the Qatar Airways In-flight store on the way from Berlin to Hong Kong via Doha. Of course, I immediately purchased it thinking I had to do it quick before they discovered that there was some kind of pricing error. Surprisingly, there was no pricing error. I saved myself quite a few $ and my wallet, and nose, couldn't be any happier.
