I like how snippets of classical music are showing up in some of these ads. If you remember “Barry Lyndon,” Stanley Kubrick used that same Schubert slow movement, a piano trio, throughout. Well, even if you don't remember it, he still did. Although Schubert's pals might be posthumously appalled to have young ladies peeling off their clothes in the street and, heaven knows, maybe frightening the horses. Schubert himself probably wouldn't have minded a bit. And in the Guerlain Homme commercial posted a few days ago, that's Camille Saint-Saëns' “Carnival of the Animals,” the introduction, right before all *heck* breaks loose. Nifty! I've heard it said that the advertising industry is the last stop for the liberal arts major. Thanks for that, Robin!
I'm alive, all right – just not nuts, as clearly I would be if I ran down the street in my underpants.
Hey, did you see the Joshua Bell commercial for Mont Blanc? That's a good one, although sad to say my knowledge of classical music is *nil*.
It's an odd aspirational mix: girls gone wild, but in a rather upscale way.
This ad is infinitely better than the one for the original fragrance! Love the more artistic direction, the gorgeous soundtrack, and the clothes (and subsequent lack thereof).
Oooohh do you have a link? Sounds interesting.
I just googled him, it's Vivaldi, Italian Baroque composer known as the “Red Priest.” Joshua Bell is a wonderful young violinist. Well, not so young anymore, he's past forty, hard to believe he's gone from enfant terrible to eminence grise… Anyhow, he's done a lot to de-mystify and de-mythify classical music. My exposure to video ads is pretty much limited to what I come across in my web-surfing, so thanks for the hint. Interesting that Mont Blanc has come out with a fragrance, I'm surprised they didn't do it before. They were the upmarket pen of choice in the 80's, everyone on Wall Street had one and gave and got them for Christmas and deal closings and annual stockholders' meetings and what-not.

I can't remember the original ad, only the print ones…which were pretty well done, I thought.
They've got quite a few scents — starting in 2001. Don't see them much in the US, guess they sell more overseas?
Yes, I see in the online discounters. (More googling … I've taken the day off.) I may have to try one or two of those. The notes sound interesting, things I might like.
Yep, that's about the only place I see them too.
Hope you had a nice day off!
