Bath & Body Works has launched Black Amethyst, a new fragrance for women in the Signature Collection:
Master perfumers have seductively layered a sophisticated blend of Italian bergamot and rare camellias with exotic sandalwood and a surprising twist of vetiver in this hypnotic fine fragrance, inspired by chic, sensual and confident women.
Other fragrance notes include mandarin, tangerine, orange, waterfruits, crisp melon, lily of the valley, magnolia, sheer gardenia, tuberose, freesia, peony, patchouli, vanilla and musk.
Bath & Body Works Black Amethyst is $26.50 for 75 ml Eau de Toilette. (via bathandbodyworks)
Other recent launches from Bath & Body Works: Enchanted Orchid, Hello Sugar!, Blushing Cherry Blossom, Rainkissed Leaves.
Update: see a review of Bath & Body Works Black Amethyst.
My friend who works at Bath & Body Works brought me a lotion of this and it smells like an old friend of mine. She didn't wear anything. It smells sort of like a human wearing a drug-store lotion. And, still, very sweet.
My day isn't complete without reading 11 different adjectives in 35 words.
If they had stopped at the notes in the paragraph and left out the “other fragrance notes include” I might be more interested – as it is it sounds like a right mess.
I go in there enough that I'll eventually sniff it.
I called to see by chance if they had any of the trial size $1 lotions.. they were sold out. So I can bet it is already popular and now I have to wait to smell it on Sept. 3rd. Some are comparing it to Angel on MUA. I will wait to decide on it and smell it anyway.
The body products for this are great. If you're interested in the scent at all, the Body Cream and Shower Gel are both VERY good, and the Hand Soap is amazing. The Eau De Toilette itself is pretty good. But it focuses more on the sweet and floral top/mid notes, as opposed to the body products which focus on the more interesting base notes.
Sorry, the melon — sorry — “crisp” melon — kills it for me. But I'll admit I'm curious about “waterfruits.”
Love the name but the notes don't really reflect the dark, sexy, mysteriousness of “Black Amethyst”. Well, it got my attention anyway. I do wish there was Bath & Body Works in Japan. Their products sound much more interesting than The Body Shop, which is also an affordable toiletries brand commonly found in Asia.
The top is VERY dominated by the bergamot, which is good I guess. Really, there are way more notes listed for the top than is necessary. It's basically bergamot, something orange (could be tangerine or mandarin), and a little hint of watermelon. Nothing crisp about it really.
The mid notes are like a floral blur, but the base notes are interesting enough 🙂
LOL!
Agree w/ all of that…
Gosh, those notes don't sound Angel-ish! But I can believe it.
BB&Ws has done a pretty good job with their products this year, black amethyst if not a great fragrance, at least stands for them trying to come up with somethig better than sweet peas. Their rainkissed leaves rock!!!
Vetiver is “surprising”?
They do seem to be “upscaling”…
To somebody, perhaps, even if not to you or I 😉
How interesting – from the notes it doesn't sound as if it'll smell anything like Lalique's Amethyst.
I like that they think they are “surprising” us with those unexpected twists. You know vetiver, sandalwood and bergamot! Things that have only been used commonly in cologne since the Spice Route came to use! I went to the store to smell this and they were sold out! Many reviews online are down right cruel to this. People mentioned licorice? I love licorice, anise scents but do not see that accord listed with the 30 other notes. I do know that they are discontinuing Brown Sugar & Fig which is the only one that I like.
Nope!
I'll try to smell it next weekend if I manage to get to the mall, but BBW has yet to surprise me.
I had to try this as I breezed by BBW, and I have to admit that I kind of like it! I sprayed it on a test ribbon they had available, it is black with the words “Black Amethyst” scrawled in silver and has a snap if you want to wear it like a bracelet. I wish I had tested it on my skin as well. It seems to me to be in the vein of Narciso Rodriguez for Women and SJP's Lovely, but a lot sweeter, obviously, as it is meant to appeal to a mall audience. I'm thinking a person might try it as an alternative to the above listed fragrances if you tend to find them too spicy or woodsy.
Thanks — sounds nice, but possibly too sweet for me. I'll give it a shot!
Hate this stuff. A co-worker is bathing in it.
Co-workers bathing in *any* perfume is not good…
This coworker must have some amazing body chemistry-anything she wears smells really strong and she already likes strong scents. Many scents have been ruined for me..
To my nose this didn't smell at all like Angel, which I detest! My boyfriend bought this for me, and to me it has a similar feel to Tom Ford Black Orchid, though no comparison for complexity or quality.
