Joop! will launch Wolfgang Joop, a new fragrance for men, this fall. The scent is named for the house's founder, Wolfgang Joop, and was made with his cooperation although he sold the company in the early 2000s and no longer designs for the brand.
The orange-tinted juice, which was mixed by Givaudan's Louise Turner and Michel Girard, has "trusted, familiar notes" like lavender; "upper-class smells" including coriander, vetiver, sandalwood and cinnamon, as well as patchouli.
Joop! Wolfgang Joop will be available in 50 and 90 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching grooming products. (via wwd)
Other recent releases from Joop!: Joop! Hot Summer collection, Jette Joop Dark Sapphire.
I couldn't say why, but I like that bottle very very much. The “orange-tinted juice” adds a lot, too. The Joop fragrances (the ones I've smelled) are a real mixed bag, though.
Still, I hope this one will show up in my general vicinity. Hey, I'll try anything.
I don't think they're officially distributed in the US, but we do get them at the discounters. I really like that ad — preppy, but fun.
The original Joop for men was a revolutionary frag IMHO.
It was a perfume so sweet that practically only someone with a great personality could carry it off.
I imagine that what I felt when I first smelled it was the same people felt in the 1960s after first sampling eau sauvage: “is this FOR MEN???”
I respect Joop a lot for that, and although I did not like nightflight (but LOOOOVE the bottle) and Jump and the rest are bland in comparison… I still hope for Joop to pull out a showstopper once more… Looking forward to it!! 🙂
OMG, the last bottle of Joop(Joop Homme)–received as a gift from a well meaning person– ended up being sprayed regularly on my garbage can to keep racoons at bay. It seemed that they hated the smell of it as much as I did.
I don't know if I even want to try this one…
BTW… what exactly are “upper class smells”?
Freshly printed money? Spring rain on a Bentley? Diamonds in the sun?
Or is it actually the smell of people from the upper class?
Certainly coriander, vetiver, sandalwood, cinnamon, or patchouli are no more upper class than other other scents….. or maybe there is a whole class systems in the perfume industry that I ignore completely.
Thanks, I never get to try the Joop scents! Maybe this will be the showstopper you're waiting for…
I loved that “upper class smells”, LOL! The lower classes, they like lavender, the upper classes, they like coriander?
Someday I will buy this one. It smells so great. It is hard to describe but it reminds me a little bit of Opium pour homme. I don't know why, because these two fragrances are very different.
Hope I'll get to try it, but they're hard to find here.
this is an amazing perfume!
Glad to hear it.
I read the word “wolf”gang
and then saw the dalmation in the advert
I thought it was for dogs lol
