A few more ideas for those of you who are still shopping...
A classic: Cartier Declaration ("an original, distinctive composition that basks in a harmonious blend of cold spices") in a 100 ml leather travel case. $110 at Nordstrom.
And a budget classic from Bermuda: Royall Lyme. "An all-purpose lotion eau de toilette is derived from a authentic island formula. This delightfully crisp all-day refresher combines the oils of the plumpest West Indian Royall limes with 77 rare essential oils to produce a zestfully unobtrusive yet undeniably lime scent." Marked down to $30 at Brooks Brothers.
From the venerable British grooming line Geo F Trumper, Sandalwood Shave Cream: "glycerine based soft shaving cream is economical to use, giving an excellent lather for a comfortable shave that leaves the skin exceptionally soft". Hey, that sounds like something I could borrow for my legs, right? $35 for a 200 gr jar at Bigelow Chemists.
Does Dad's hair need some attention? Wild Lime Hair Polish from Aesop "can be applied sparingly to dry hair to fix it into place, or, for limp hair needing extra body, apply to the roots of damp hair before blow drying". $30 at Barneys.
Has Dad still got that pine tree air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror? Give him a car pochette from L'Artisan: "A combination of the warmth of flannel and amber! A lovely magic charm to set on the dashboard or secretly slip into the glove compartment of your car… or use at home to freshen up drawers and wardrobes!" $32 from L'Artisan Parfumeur.
A great selection! I'd be happy to receive any of these if I were a father. And yes Robin, I have often wondered why women don't use these great traditional shaving creams i.e. for legs, underarms etc… they are fantastic products! Since I started using them I have never gone back to those foaming creams, gels etc.
Add me to the list of women who use men's products – Anthony Logistics is the best shaving cream I have ever used.
Nice gift choices. I like Declaration. I like Pasha even more!
Santemon, I should! I use a cheapie “unisex” shaving cream from Trader Joes, but a sandalwood one would be great.
Does the AL shaving cream have a scent?
Another excellent guide!
I love the Geo F Trumper shave cream and violet is my favorite (lime is second). The Geo F Trumper coral skin food is also lovely.
Too bad the Aesop fragrances aren't available.
It has a very light minty scent – AL doesn't add fragrance to their products. I think it has eucalyptus oil; it feels slightly cool. There's no lingering scent after I rinse it off. 🙂
Ah — then I still want the Trumpers sandalwood!
The Aesop scents are near impossible to get in the US, unfortunately! I'll have to look for the violet shave cream though, that sounds lovely — I do like the Trumper Ajaccio Violets fragrance.
Yes, this is quite annoying. I should nudge the ladies at TPC to get some Aesop fragrances for us poor, ignored North Americans. I really would like to try the Mystra, in particular.
Was that Declaration de Cartier?
It looks like the Alien by Thierry Mugler – special Men in Black edition 🙂
LOL!
It really does, doesn't it?
Wow, are they not even at TPC? I sort of thought they would be — they have very nearly everything on earth, LOL…
I did finally get to try Marrakech, and it was really nice but sort of a let down given how hard it was to get. Nice, but not an absolute necessity, you know?
