Jennifer Jambon of Carlos Cramer Productos Aromáticos in Santiago, Chile, has won the Prix International du Parfumeur Createur 2008, a prize reserved for young perfumers (under the age of 35) and awarded by the Société Française des Parfumeurs.
This year's entrants were asked to create a fragrance inspired by a quote from Henri Bosco’s Le Mas Théotime:
You push your hand in among the damp leaves, which when shaken shed hundreds of tiny clear droplets of water onto your fingers whilst the little plant’s perfume exhales and intermingles near the ground with the smell of the plants below and the stronger emanations of the earth.
Jambon's fragrance was entitled Promenade:
Ms Jambon’s interpretation evokes the feeling of a walk after a rainy spring day, starting from a clearing and continuing into the heart of a dark and dense forest.
The top note comprises of damp green notes with ozonic fresh accords, passing through a delicate floral harmony encompassing iris and violet leaf and ending with more intense notes of patchoulí and amber.
“I love creating and enjoyed every minute of this creation even though it was a difficult challenge,” Ms Jambon said.
Blogger Octavian Coifan of 1000 Fragrances attended the award ceremony; you can read his report here. (first quote via perfumerflavorist, second quote via press release from cramer.cl)
Good news. But not so fresh. I saw it at osmoz 8 days ago : http://www.osmoz.com/News-Trends/News/Pro/2008-Young-Perfumer-of-the-Year-named
But that's true, you were on holidays. 😉
Jennifer…Ham?
well, I suppose it's no stranger a name than any other…
LOL — I've been told my name means “jug” — I might be better off with ham!
It is true! We aren't always fresh!! And I read about it at 1000 Fragrances ages ago, and still didn't post it until they sent me a press release, so my vacation is no excuse. Can I just use general laziness as an excuse?
I will not thrust my hand in leaves
I will not let rain wet me from the eaves
I will not wear this perfume “ham”
Not with green eggs or berry jam.
I love autumns of red and gold
When summer air slowly grows cold
Some passions die and some unfold
Under the falling leaves.
With amber, musk and tonka bean
And orange rind to make you dream
Of passions lost and passions keen
Of those who still in love believe.
You two are on a roll and I feel like I should just stay out of the way 🙂
Better tell me about Givenchy limited editions Rose du Maroc or Jasmine du Nil. Just spotted them at Sephora!

Hamm is a pretty common last name hereabouts (although it is not my last name). So I guess “Jambon” is no worse. And this actually sounds good to me, although I am guessing it is more of a prototype rather than something that will be made commercially available?
Thank you! This lovely woman won this wonderful prize and here we all are picking on her name!
I think the perfume sounds great, but don't think they usually release the winning scents commercially.
