Beauty of Bathing Coco Monoi, Creed Love in Black ~ new perfumes

Posted by Robin on 28 May 2008 16 Comments

Beauty of Bathing Coco Monoi fragranceCoco Monoi is the debut fragrance collection from Beauty of Bathing, an upscale offshoot of The Thymes. The collection includes Eau de Parfum and a range of bath & body products.

Coco Monoi is inspired by an age-old Polynesian tradition. In an island ceremony of languid beauty, heady white blossoms of intoxicating gardenia scent the humid night air. Gathered by moonlight, these most voluptuous and feminine of flowers are steeped in sumptuous oil to release their sensual fragrance and energy...

Coco Monoi Eau de Parfum is a modern, exotic blend of white gardenia, lushly layered with white tuberose, sweet osmanthus, and sultry notes of tonka bean and warm agarwood.

Beauty of Bathing Coco Monoi is available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum; $75. It is available for pre-order at b-glowing.

Creed has launched Love in Black, a new fragrance for women. Love in Black is "a response to Creed’s bestselling Love in White released three years ago, is the creation of master perfumer Olivier Creed, and features top notes of violet, followed by iris, clove and Tonkin musk". It is currently exclusive to the Creed Boutique in Paris; look for it to go into wider distribution in September. (via cosmeticnews)

I've never really liked Creed (except for Fantasia des Fleurs), but ooooh….violet…I'll have to sample this when it comes to Niemann's :)

Violet is so hard to do well too, I think! I still haven't found anything that beats Borsari's Violetta di Parma.

I love to check out Creed's frags, but this sounds like it'd be very powdery.

Could be powdery. Can't remember if Love in White was powdery too?

Love in White was one of the worst things I've ever smelled – screeching, thin, synthetic floral – quite dire. I hope Love in Black is better (not that I'm holding my breath – I'm not a Creed fan in general).

The (nice) packaging reminds me of Shedonism.

BTW, I smelled the new Creed. A rather old fashioned violet. It's not fantastic. Compared with L.I.B., Love in White is pretty well done.

Nor am I (in general) — did not like Love in White or the newer one that won't come to mind at the moment.

Hey, it kind of does! I like this bottle better though.

Love in Black is like rock candy violet–way too sweet for my taste. However, for those who like Love in White but still find it a bit too chemical try mixing it 50-50 with Virgin Island Water. I find this combo better than either alone.

I've still only tried LiB very quickly on a card, but would agree with “rock candy violet”!

Hello! Me here from behind-the-times Australia! Received my sample vials of Creed Love in White & Love in Black – have to say I really dislike the White and find it terribly boring, pointless to wear! The Black is at least nice to smell, and not powdery at all. A fun kind of violet, I thought.

Gave Black a very quick smell, would agree with “fun violet” :-)
