Missoni has launched the Missoni Colori Collection, comprising four fragrances based on accords from their 2006 eponymous fragrance. The scents can be worn alone or layered:
Rosa (shown): "A romantic mix of voluminous peony, dewy rose and textural lily."
Arancio: "An energising mix of sparkling mandarin, zesty-bitter orange and juicy kaki."
Giallo: "A vibrant blend of Italian bergamot, succulent nespolo and soft magnolia petals."
Gianduia: "A delectable melange of addictive gianduia chocolate and fluid amber."
Missoni Colori Rosa, Arancio, Giallo and Gianduia are available at Harrods, ÂŁ45 each for 75 ml Eau de Toilette.
would test the first three, but i would STAY THE H*LL AWAY from the last one. gourmands/fruity florals really do cause severe nausea (for me anyway, it turns too cloyingly sweet! if you can wear them, then kudos.)… actually the arancio and the giallo sounds pretty layer-able, although that makes sense considering they're based on accords from the first fragrance.
the first missoni scared the crap out of me (the CHOCOLATE, WHY MUST THERE BE CHOCOLATE!) but at least it smelled interesting… it changes a lot throughout the course of the day if you don't scrub it off!
I agree the first Missoni was interesting — I would give them an A for effort — but in the end, I did not find it pleasant to wear. Don't know when these will make it to the US (or if they will at all) but would be curious to try them.
And I was thrown off by “juicy kaki”. What the hell is kaki? Did they misspell khaki? Although how khaki can be juicy baffles me:) I picure khaki as comfort, more like a good piece of toast w/ butter. Okay, enlighten me, what's kaki? And I think they all sound wonderful, even the chocolate/amber. Adore amber!!
Kaki fruit = persimmon. Not sure if it is another generic name or the name of a variety.
If they all sound wonderful, you should try the original Missoni!
Who can pronounce those names and who can remember them outside Italy?
Persimmon, I have no idea what that is either.
LOL — but that is true of most perfume names in French as well 🙂
Politely butting in: I totally agree with you, darling.
I had such high hopes that I would love Missoni. I even bought a bottle at Nordstrom. But after wearing it once all day long, I returned the bottle to Nordstrom. The fragrance was too strange and ill-formed for my taste.
Hugs!
“Ill-formed” is just right — somehow, it didn't seem to hang together on skin. I felt like the four accords were at war w/ each other or something. And hugs to you!
That is true too Robin, had not thought of that..
Oooooh! The fourth one sounds the best! But they all sound pretty good. I hope they will appear at Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus (preferable the former)
The first two sound very appealing to me. I tried the original, and although it was pleasant, it was not something I wanted to purchase. My assessment was much the same as everyone elses: the notes didn't seem to hang together. Almost anything containing gourmand notes heads into dangerously queasy territory for me.
Persimmons are bright orange fruits that have to be left on the vine through a hard freeze to taste good. They are sweet, but not fragrant, and must be completely soft to the touch to be edible. If you eat them before they are completely soft or before the hard frost, they are mouth-puckeringly astringent and unpleasant. I think this tells you a lot about the fragrance. Put it through a hard freeze and wait till the bottle gets soft, or you'll be soooooorrrrrrrryyyyyy.
Googled persimmons after your encouraging description Qc. Ok so there are at least 20 varieties, kind of reminding me of original tomatoes on pictures but they are not tomatoes. I don't think that I ever ate one in my life and so I have no clue what they can do to a fragrance exept take our breath away…
I am trying to remember where the original Missoni launched but can't. I know it was at Saks early on, that is where I first smelled it.
These do sound more appealing. It is a shame they didn't use the same bottle though, in different colors — these are much duller.
