A long-ish video on the making of a commercial for a Nina Ricci fragrance I haven't heard a single word about: Le Parfum Bijou (assuming that is the name of the perfume and not just the name of the film). The model is Tanya Dziahileva, and that is the sum total of what I know on the subject; if you know more, do comment.
Update: the video has been removed from YouTube, sorry!
Oh well, sigh… how empty and meaningless..
The model is so skinny, she is more like a young girl…
Must be a fragrance for teens then.
Ooops! I know nothing about this launch too but my guess is that it is too early for this video to be all over the net… (the people @ Nina Ricci should be very angry when they find out!) Apart from this “incident” what strikes me the most is the ressemblance with Guerlain's L'instant Magic commercial where a girl is also climbing a spiral staircase. The bottle however looks really beautiful in a sophisticated/baroque/girly style (Lolita Lempicka like).
I am always surprised to see “making of” videos for commercials, as they do make the commercials seem more empty & meaningless. There is no magic to someone running across a bridge with petals floating through the air once you've seen them film it.
Or it's a sneaky piece of pre-launch viral marketing.
I really like this model, and she is fairly young, so the perfume ought to be aimed at the young market as well. Also, parts of the soundtrack to this thing are by an Icelandic band Sigur Ros – I wonder if their music will be in the final ad. The band is pretty post-modern and indie, hmmm:)
Could be that too.
Thanks so much for the music reference, I was wondering who that was!
Sigur Ros is nice, but too new agey-electronica for me.
The ad looks wierd, and at the same time I feel that they want to capitalize on the success of “Nina” and it's apple-shaped charm-like bottle.
My mom loved it as a gift and I presume that she will love THIS next november for her birthday! 😀
Although now it is a mystery what the juice smells like…
If you take a hint from the bottle, it should smell watery and violet-y. which is not bad for me. But does not look like it has basenotes at all (always judging from the appearence of the bottle)
If we get metaphysical and “add the ad” to the equation.. this should be the smell that “formulaic-color-by-numbers-marketing” should smell like, if it had a smell. 😉
It would be a surprise if this was a strong scent.
Oh, well… we'll always have Strangè! won´t we?
It stinks sooo goood! 😉
Totally unrelated P.S.: I got to sample Flowerbomb finally after a couple of years of having gotten only faint sniffs of it.. and I must say I am totally in awe of how so many people waxed poetically about this… it smells as generic and 90's in the baddest way you could imagine! (IMHO) It somehow reminds me of Animale or something like that.. not the actual smell but the feeling of being forced to smell something totally mass-market.
I have really mixed feelings about Flowerbomb. When it launched, I was offended at its genericness…but by the end of the year, it seemed so much better done than many of the other super-sweet floral gourmands. So on the one hand, it isn't something I want to wear, on the other, if you're going to wear something of that nature, Flowerbomb is better than lots of its competition.
Fair Enough! 😀
Then flowerbomb is like a distilled… the evolution of a concept.
Someday I'm gonna pin the perfume that Flowerbomb reminds me off, and I'll email you right away! 😉
Have a nice weekend.
