I'd joke, but it's just too easy.
Poisson d'avril! 😀
Tee hee – my ord, I despise Red Door! I almost feel sorry for the perp – but the cops should have no trouble finding him unless he showered for an hour and burned his clothes.
So true!!
LOL — you would think, but it appears to be real.
No way! The article is dated today. Or don't they *ever* do 'poissons d'avril' in Texas? 😉
Yes, but the news originates w/ Associated Press, and AP not known for funny 🙂
Hmm… you do have a point there. Still. I'm not totally convinced.
I'm wondering if it would work on the Texas Legislature.
OK, you convinced me so I did a wider search. First mention of the story hails from yesterday, 3/31, if that helps. Of course, also quite possible that the story is being reported seriously but is a hoax anyway.
Always worth a try!
🙂
the associated press is not a bunch of jokers as far as i know. we rely on their news reports every day, as does the newspaper in this mention, which i also linked to on my blog, http://www.scentsignals.com. if they were joking, it would make a lot of newspeople mad.
You mean, like the world-respected BBC, which some years ago, broadcast a film showing the harvesting of spaghetti (growing in long strands on trees) in some remote Swiss village? At the time, the Brits were not very familiar with pasta and they believe it. I have seen that documentary (although not at the time): it is hilarious and one wonders how anyone could have been taken in, but they were. It's mentiioned here: http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/hoax/aprilfool along with other seemingly incredible stories produced by respectable institutions.
April Fool's Day hoaxes have a long tradition and the AP may have decided to take part in it this year. I still think someone sniffed Red Door and said, 'Wow, that's a killer scent!' and …. You may be underestimating journalists' sense of mischief.
Quite so, the BBC's 2008 effort was voted best 4/1 prank at Blogger's Blog this year: http://snurl.com/2369l
It deserved it. LOL!
R, the URL you mentioned is that of a BBC clip about penguins (I expect the page moved, or something).
You can watch the spaghetti hoax here:

I know, penguins — did you watch it??
And just watched yours — the spaghetti weevil!!! Perfection, thanks for the link.
Hmm… no, I hadn't. Sorry. Obviously thought you meant to post link to spaghetti.
ROTFL! Should have recognized Terry Jones.
LOL Bela!!! Thanks for the link. So veddy, veddy BBC!!
Costs less than tear gas.
But more potentially lethal to the user, LOL…
