Think that might be “symbols”. Don't think it sounds like me. Appeal to you?

Well, you know, presumably they are translating from the French and not doing a perfect job :-)

Just about anything w/ incense smoke is a must try for me!

Well, I think you liked Cadjmere more than me, too, and hmmm, the whole PG line, I guess. :) Luckyscent has “symbols”, so presumably they're doing some translation correction.

    Gotta try that Demeter!

This sounds like they designed it for me. Can feel a sample coming on…

Well, I “fixed” the notes but won't usually fix a quote. Did just add “[sic]”, which I ought to have done to begin with :-)

Where do you get PG samples in the UK, anyway? Les Senteurs?

Les Senteurs carry PG now, so that may well be an option. Most of my samples so far have come from First-In-Fragrance, and some from the godawful PG site itself. (Yes, it's been facelifted, no, it's not any easier to use.) Oh, and a few from Luckyscent.

That site is so tricky. I haven't been able to find any sample options, though I feel I saw them ages ago. How do you get your samples from them? Specific requests?? I ending up getting some from Canada, and I'm in Germany! Yes, FIF is also good, but with the exchange rate, Canada's a good deal at the moment. I was wondering if Les Senteurs did samples as well.

Of course, forgot F-I-F. I didn't even know PG did samples — but yes, that website! It is like they don't want you to find anything.

Just butting in to say that Les Senteurs does do samples.

Well, the notes are right up my street. PG is a line I've been branching out in exploring, because $85 for 50ml of a quality niche scent seemed *reasonable*. Then last week, the PG prices at LS soared to $130 for 50ml, with the Private Collection ones at $135. Ouch! My decants & samples are going to have to see me through.

When PG first started, they offered nice 5ml spray samples – you had to pay for them, but they were a useful size. That was just for the first 'Chapter' though – I don't think they've done it for any of the releases since.

WTH? Huge jump, there. Bois Blond was my most expensive perfume mistake ever. Guess I should remain disinterested.

Ouch, I missed that too! Well, you know, you can't blame the brands for the fact that the dollar is in the toilet :-(

Once perfumes start getting silly with notes like, “idea arrived at while breathing incense smoke in the third-row-from-the-front pew” I lose interest. The price is no longer appealing, although it's not their fault the dollar isn't worth a thing anymore.

Silly me, I was thinking Senteurs d'Ailleurs in Brussels. Thanks anyway.

Well, I just got my sample from Luckyscent and I can't decide if I absolutely love it, or if it makes me smell like an old lady. Initially, it's soft, warm, slightly spicy, very well rounded. It's difficult to separate the notes. It's floral, but not, spicy, but not, powdery, but not. Odd! In the opening, there is a bit of green in there which keeps it fresh and not to overly powdery/sweet, I can detect a little of the cereal bits, it smells milky. Sweet milk, and baby powder. After a few hours, it dries down very close to the skin and stays at the sweet milk/powder level on me. I like big perfumes, like Montale Sweet Oriental Dream and Ambre Narguile, so this isn't knocking my socks off. I love the opening, if only that would last. Ah, but that's true of most things in this world, huh? Haha!

Thanks for the description — sweet milk & baby powder is not likely to work for me. But I'll give it a shot, and yes, that is SO true of most things!
