Posted by Robin on 14 December 2007 13 Comments

Bath & Body Works Chocolate Amber perfumeBath & Body Works has launched Chocolate Amber, a new fragrance in their Signature Collection:

Our master perfumers balanced the mystery of sensual amber with inviting notes of honeyed chocolate, juicy berries and vanilla orchid to create an intoxicating blend of passion and innocence. Daring. Romantic. Unforgettable.

The fragrance notes include pineapple, red berries, lemon, honey blossom, rose, jasmine, dark chocolate, honey wood, patchouli, vanilla orchid and musk.

Bath & Body Works Chocolate Amber is $19 for 50 ml Eau de Toilette.

Other recent launches from Bath & Body Works: Irresistible Apple, Blackberry Amber, Velvet Tuberose, Japanese Cherry Blossom Eau de Parfum.

    :::whispers:::I kind of like this:::

The top notes don't thrill me, but the drydown is really nice. Amber with a very soft, dry chocolate. It's nice to like something cheap for once!

The notes sound sickening to me, but have heard it's really nice! Will have to get to BBW to check it out.

Yes, the notes sound like a gooey mess, but I tried it a few days ago and was surprised by how good it was. Chocolate and amber were there, but the drydown was remarkably complex for a BBW scent.

It's not superb, but it's not bad either!

I agree re. the notes – Gak. I'm a dry amber fan (SL Amber Sultan or Etro). However, their Velvet Tuberose was surprisingly nice. Maybe the company is getting more sophisticated in its presentations and we can hope for the day they trash that awful Cucumber Melon.

I am terrible — I still haven't smelled Velvet Tuberose. It is too hard to keep up with all the releases this fall/winter.

Once again, they had far too many oil warmers on in the store. I could not even smell this…I sprayed it on anyway, and waited till I got home to smell it. Something about this has a little bit of a masculine edge. Not alot, just a tad. I liked it, I have to try it again sometime.

They always do have too much fragrance in the air :-(

Of all the scents that they've released, I'd have to say that it's not exactly my favorite either. Personally, I find it to be a bit TOO sweet.

I totally really like Chocolate Amber. I think Blackberry Amber better, but there's something so wierd about Chocolate Amber, I just like it. I get something like fried chocolate from it… lol. I don't know, like greasy fried cocoa beans. I think it's good though.

And it definitley caters to a more masculine market, I'd say. I don't know why they insist on marketing EVERYTHING directly toward women, when they have scents like this that are obviously more masculine (than others).

I too am looking foawrd to the time when they pull the utter crap off the shelves. Their 5 most standard fragrances are Sweet Pea, Moonlight Path, Cucumber Melon, Mango Mandarin, and Warm Vanilla Sugar. To me, they're all horrible except Mango Mandarin. And I doubt they'd ever get rid of them, because they sell well.

And for those who are interested, the next new fragrance for BBW will be Enchanted Orchid. And it's amazing. It's better than ANYthing they released in 2007 except for Cucumber, Pomegranate, and Blackberry Amber in my opinion. It's a heady pink floral, with some major spiciness. It smells very pure, and even a bit clean in a way. But it's also very eastern. It's good! Haha! :D

Greasy fried cocoa beans — hmmm, not sure that sounds like something I need! But will try it, and thanks for the news on Enchanted Orchid.

Oh, a couple more random news pieces: Enchanted Orchid comes out on March 3rd, and sometime after that there will be “Blushing Cherry Blossom”, and their True Blue Spa line will be expanding to have a new line called Far East.

    :D
