Givenchy My Givenchy Dream, Nicole Farhi Bleu ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 6 December 2007 8 Comments

My Givenchy Dream perfumeGivenchy will launch a third fragrance in the travel retail sequence that started with Lovely Prism, followed by Absolutely Givenchy. My Givenchy Dream will be introduced in February, and shares its square bottle design with the prior two fragrances. It is...

...a floral fruity juice that illuminates the Givenchy woman with a precious and pure brightness. This twinkling creation captures luminosity, sensuality and elegance...

My Givenchy Dream was created by perfumer Mark Buxton, and the notes include Chinese lantern, blackcurrant, clementine, jasmine, rose, lily of the valley, patchouli, sandalwood and amber. It will be available in 50 ml Eau de Toilette or in a 7 ml miniature. (quote via dutyfreemagazine.ca, additional information via moodiereport)

Nicole Farhi Bleu fragrancesEarlier this year, Nicole Farhi launched Bleu Azur for women and Bleu Intense for men, new fragrances inspired by her love for the Mediterranean.

Nicole Farhi Bleu Azur is a "fresh, floral fragrance with citrus top notes of bergamot, lemon and grapefruit that are enhanced by coriander and cassis and freshened with aquatic resonances. Floral heart notes of exotic flowers including Egyptian jasmine, Ylang Ylang from Haiti and Freesia petals are wrapped in base accords of sensuous musk and warm sandalwood to create a feminine and distinctive scent."

Nicole Farhi Bleu Intense is a "fresh herbal woody fragrance with exhilarating top notes of mandarin, green galbanum, and sage that are harmonised with a creamy heart of violet, lavender, tea tree, birch leaf and willow. A base of rich woody accords, crystalline amber, vanilla and musk finishes this evocative and sensuous scent."

Nicole Farhi Bleu Azur & Bleu Intense are available in 50 ml Eau de Toilette. (quotes via escentual.co.uk, found via dutyfreemagazine.ca)

I think they're designed by Farhi as well. Don't know why (I know people love her bottles) but they're not doing anything for me.

I think you tend to like more ornate bottles than I do. I'm a sucker for anything that looks supermodern. Mid-century modern is my favorite style of decor – if I had money, I'd have a house full of it. As it is, I settle for IKEA. These bottles look like they'd have a satisfying heft when held.

And I've have a mix of antiques & kitsch, so yes, you've got us both pegged 🙂

I love her original Men's fragrance, which is transparent but warm and spicy. I was really keen to try the Intense version, and what I got (from two wearings) is: nothing! It has a vague blue scent for its top notes but these fade away within minutes, and leave nothing in their wake. Given the longevity of her other men's scent, this is really odd.

The bottle is nice, however. It feels really nice to hold. It's a nice compliment to the standard frag; but here's it's by far the best part, full stop.

Perhaps it has a musk base that you're not able to smell — that is common.
