But does his scent Tuscan Leather actually smell like cocaine? Well, according to cognoscenti of that drug, yes, a bit. “That’s what everyone says,” admits a counterboy at the Ford store on Madison, who adds that one customer even bought a bottle because he thought it smelled like coke.
— Columnist Geoffrey Gray of New York Magazine asks Is it naughty or just coincidental that (according to some) one of Tom Ford’s colognes smells like cocaine? Thanks to Christopher Peterson for the link!
The author uses the word “skanky”, which I strongly believe was first coined by March. Go March!!
M, that term has been around for years (it is even in some of the more modern dictionaries) although March has certainly popularized its use in perfume blogging 🙂
Heh, the odorant 2-methoxy-5-vinylphenol is present in coffee as well as marijuana. Are potheads coffee fiends as well, because of this aroma? 🙂
My first reaction to this fragrance was definitely, “Whoa, illicit drugs!”
Of course, can you expect any different from a self-styled sex symbol who wanted his first fragrance to smell like a crotch?!
LOL — all I can say is that I love the smell of coffee, hate the smell of pot. So it must take more than just that one chemical 😉
Good to know it has some basis in truth then, I've never smelled it.
Which haven't you smelled, the fragrance or the illicit drugs?
No need to answer… 😉
LOL, thanks, I'd rather not…
Cocaine has a smell?????
I'm taking the fifth…
Oh my—profoundly bizzare (as if I'd expect anything less from Mr. T) ! Hang around politicians and spray this stuff on their sleeves, if you want to stir up a scandal…
I really need to go and smell it — I actually don't think of TF as doing “weird” scents, just as making “weird” statements 🙂
Ditto! 🙂 He seems set on stirring things up a bit.
