Guerlain will launch limited edition variations on L'Instant for women and men this spring. For women, L'Instant de Guerlain Fleur de Mandarine (shown) dresses up the original L'Instant fragrance (magnolia, cedar, musk, vanilla) with citrus and fruity notes, including mandarin, bergamot, bigarade, blackcurrant and mandarin blossom. For men, L'Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme Cristaux d'Agrumes is given a citrusy twist with bergamot, Italian citron, grapefruit. (via fashionmag.fr)
Coach, the American leather goods line, will launch their first fragrance in March under arrangements with Estee Lauder:
...the scent has top notes of tart green mandarin, guava, violet petals and water lily; a heart of genet flower, honey, orange flower, mimosa and jasmine, and a drydown of sandalwood, amber wood and vanilla.
Coach for women will be available in Coach boutiques in 8 ml ($42) and 50 ml ($68) Eau de Parfum and a solid perfume ($40) shaped like a Coach hangtag. (via Women's Wear Daily) Update: see a review of the Coach perfume here.
I don't know, it sounds like COACH is being very brave; Mimosa, sandlewood, vanilla, amber and jasmine. That's a 4×4 hit of animalic sweetness. Orange flower always ends up smelling so sugary to my nose, too. I'll just have to test it and see how it turned out. On another note (Ha!), I think the addition of citrus and bergamot will be a good match for “L'instant…”.
Will be interested to try the Coach! And the L'Instant could be perfect, especially if the citrus tones down the sweetness somewhat. I like the men's better than the women's so looking forward to trying both.
Well, the Coach scent sounds like just another generic mall frag…but at least it's being offered in smaller, affordable sizes. Bet the solid hangtag thingee will be cute and highly collectible.
Don't know why they didn't do a leather!! Yes, the hangtag thingie is a great idea, we need more solid perfumes.
Received a sample of the Coach perfume in the mail over the weekend (they mailed out small purse sprays to all Preferred Customers – cool huh?)…what can I say: I smell the lily and jasmine but absolutely NO guava (I really like guava in frags – sadly I can't smell it in Coach) & a little soap. Not bad detergent soap – a FINE triple milled soap.
Thanks, I haven't tried it yet. Rarely like soap, although there are exceptions (Caleche, for instance). Will have to get to the mall and give it a try — I am not a preferred customer 🙂
Why is it that every well known brand name feels the need to offer a perfume–other than the $$$ making reason? What qualifications does Coach have for perfume?

In today's market, you no longer need a justification 😉
