Posted by Robin on 16 January 2007 7 Comments

Rich Hippie Foxy Lady perfumeRich Hippie has launched Foxy Lady:

Patchouli’s heady scent has a reputation for romance and so we’ve selected the finest Sumatran Patchouli and paired it with Madagascan Vanilla Bean and Ylang Ylang, Chinese Litsea Cubeba and Clementine from Italy. And the results are a perfume with aphrodisiac qualities you can easily fall in love with!

Other fragrance notes include neroli blossoms and blood orange. Foxy Lady is $325 for 15 ml of perfume oil, or $35 for a sample.

Use coupon code RICHHIPPIE to get 25% off any perfume purchased by 1/22. If you purchase the sample of Foxy Lady and want to buy the full bottle, use coupon code FOXYLADY by 1/31 to get the sample price subtracted from your purchase. (via email from Rich Hippie)

Seriously? “Foxy Lady”??? Does anyone even say that anymore? Not that it matters much, because any perfume that costs $35 for a sample is never making it into my collection anyway. Good grief!

I have to say I don't like the name either, although it is in keeping with the sorts of names they've used for the rest of the line. And the stuff ain't cheap, it is true!

I would think that with a name like Rich Hippie, and the obvious homage to the 60's, that the reference to Foxy Lady had something to do with the Jimi Hendrix song of the same name.
    Zz.

LOL — that seems incredibly obvious, but actually it didn't occur to me. Hard to associate the perfumes with the 60s, not sure why. Maybe the extreme exclusivity because of the cost?

The first time I saw their packaging it took me right back to the 60's. But then again I'm that old.

    Zz…

Hey, I remember the 60s! I was young, but I remember. But unless I'm mistaken, “rich hippie” would have been an oxymoron back then, and no way would a fragrance called “Foxy Lady” retail for over $300 🙂

The hippies are now the boomers, a very wealthy demogarphic in the US. They may have started out poor kids. kinda, most of the “Hippies” that I knew or knew of came from fairly well to do families. A lot of hippies were the kids who's parents were influential enough to keep them out of vietnam, and in college. You just didn't see very many hippies in uniform. But you are right, back then it would have been an oxymoron, because the last thing hippies wanted to do was identify with the conservative pro government values of mom and pop. I was young too, but had the same attitude. I wanted to be cool and different. I still have a free spirit, and do my own thing. Even though I never thought of myself as a hippie. But most hippies did not seem to be able to maintain their hippiness. They are now the corporate big wigs calling the shots. A 300 dollar perfume called Foxy Lady by a company named Rich Hippie would probably cause them to wax nostalgic. And perhaps they would buy it for that reason alone. Nothing like a quick trip down memory lane.. Great marketing actually, on the part of Rich Hippie; Because many of the the hippies are now very rich. Very rich indeed.
