An elderly woman from central New Jersey was given a $50 bottle of Lalique perfume as a gift in 1939 by her husband, who bought it at Saks Fifth Avenue. It was called "Tresor de la Mer" -- treasure of the sea.
In the ensuing years, she never used it. The perfume itself is long gone, and only the bottle and its box remain.
The price for the bottle at auction last week? $216,000. Read the rest at nj.com (link no longer working, sorry!).
