Thierry Mugler Alien Prodigy Elixir & Angel Caprice de Star ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 3 November 2006 14 Comments

Thierry Mugler Alien Prodigy Elixir perfume

For the holiday season, Thierry Mugler has launched limited edition parfum concentrations of his Angel and Alien fragrances. Alien Prodigy Elixir (shown) is the new parfum version of Thierry Mugler Alien (and I want that bottle!), Angel Caprice de Star, obviously, is the parfum version of Angel.

Both fragrances are now available at nordstrom; the 10 ml bottles are $190.

Robin, I don't understand that bottle! What is going on with the quill-pen thing sticking out the top? My brain simply cannot compute this…

The quill pen thing is actually the stopper, which like any extrait stopper, you can use to apply the fragrance (or not). You have to wonder how air tight it is, but I haven't seen it in person so won't complain in advance.

The french site Parfumessence implies that the Alien extrait has a gel-like consistency, maybe silicone-based or something? Which would be odd for an extrait, but what do I know.

I assumed that that quill was the stopper, but…how on Earth is it packaged? Surely there must be a rubber/plastic/silicone stopper-cap that you remove and discard, replacing it with the quill. Like the other Alien bottles, it's a strange and desirable object (but not that desirable at $190 U.S.).

The Angel bottle is also beautiful–the stopper is a star, or most of one, plunging into the star-shaped perfume bottle. Love Mugler's scents or hate them, he has some of the best packaging on the market: last week a co-worker was rhapsodizing about his Cologne bottle. which seems simple but is really beautifully conceived.

Agree — TM knows how to package, and I really like the packaging for Cologne too.

Going to try to see the Alien bottle in person tomorrow…would think you would be right, there must be some other stopper.

    TM bottles are gorgeous.

Must admit that I read “Alien Progeny” and found it a tad bit disturbing.

It looks like a cherry! If I did not despise the juice as I do, I would just have to have this. And I think I'd rather have it in the living room than on the vanity. Such a bizarre little conversation piece!

Aha, a cherry is another good vote. I don't like Alien either, unfortunately, so the bottle isn't going to join my collection…but it would be fun to have.
