Ormonde Jayne Orris Noir will launch in a few weeks:
This dark, spicy Oriental scent is for those who want to leave their mark. A spellbinding perfume, Orris Noir is a rich, seductive aria of unmistakable individuality.
Top notes include davana (an aromatic herb also used in Ormonde Jayne Osmanthus), pink pepper, coriander seed and bergamot; heart notes feature iris, jasmine sambac absolute, pimento berries and bay; and base notes are incense, myrrh, patchouli, Chinese cedar and gaiac wood. (via ormondejayne)
Columnist Sarah Vine of the UK Times Online describes Orris Noir as:
...one of those perfumes that is both comforting and sensual; it’s exotic but not overpowering, and it smells like a classic even though it’s new.

**Thud*** (Sound of Vanillagirl fainting.) The rumour of an OJ Iris got me all excited last year…and it's true! Sigh of happy expectation….
R, do you know if there will be a way to get a sample without ordering the entire sample programme?
I've been waiting for this one too! The notes sound great and just hoping it won't be *too* noir for me.
When they released Isfarkand, if I remember correctly they actually had a free sample offer for anyone on their mailing list. If you're not on their mailing list, get on it now, and hope!
'''''drool'''''
I thought I was, but I never received Isfarkand. I get emails from Linda P. advertising new products ever since I purchased Champaca. Is this the mailing list?
Yes, that is the mailing list. You will no doubt get an email when Orris Noir is released; if it doesn't offer a sample, I'd certainly email and ask. I am almost certain they don't make you buy the entire set when they release something new.
Yep!!
*Cues up Etta James* Well, I know what MY next perf puirchase will be!
Very interesting indeed…let's see if I can finally find an OJ that I love.
Hugs!
LOL…it has been a long wait! This & the L'Artisan Dzongkha are about all I can think of that I'm really looking forward to this year. Maybe the Elixir des Merveilles too.
R, I had forgotten that you don't love the OJs. I must say that it sounds very much like an OJ fragrance, with lots of notes that she has used in her others. Might be another money-saver for you 🙂
