Perfume solids from Stila & Bvlgari

Posted by Robin on 12 April 2006 10 Comments

Stila solid perfume compactStila has introduced solid versions of its Creme Bouquet (vanilla, pink lilac and lily of the valley) and Jade Blossom (green tea, cucumber and lemon verbena) fragrances. They are $20 each, and available now from the Stila website, which is currently offering free shipping on purchases of $60 or more.

Stila, by the way, has just been sold by Estee Lauder.

Bvlgari Omnia solid perfumeMy current object of lust: the Bvlgari Omnia solid perfume, in a refillable compact with matching carrying case.

Not quite the same bargain as the Stila: it is $85 at Nordstrom, but I love Omnia and can't stand the bottle design so I *need* this. Don't I?

Yes it is! I'd rather go without the nifty case and pay less, personally. Perhaps it will show up at the discounters eventually…

Gosh, R – at first glance that Omnia compact looked like…a toilet, complete with cistern and chain! To assure you that you 'need' it would be pushing the analogy a step too far…

R, Did you try the Creme Bouquet by any chance? Wondering what you thought about it.

It is too sweet (and powdery, if I remember correctly?) for me, but it has been a long time and I should try it again.

Haven't tried the Stila Creme Bouquet, but may give it a sniff. Too bad its a powdery fragrance, since the other notes sound ideal for spring. I really don't like powdery perfumes: if I want to smell like powder, I will wear powder for goodness sake!

I get where you're coming from about the Omnia perfume – the solid compact looks very sleek. Damn if Omnia isn't one of the ugliest bottles EVER in the history of perfume.

Let me know if I'm wrong about the powder — it has been a long time since I've smelled CB.

I knew I'd never be able to bring myself to buy that Omnia bottle, so I did a lot of swapping for Omnia samples last year :-)

“Stila” has the loveliest packaging! Unfortunately, their scents smell overwhleming on my skin. I pined after the chance to smell “midnight bloom” forever, probably because of it's mood provoking bottle. My heart broke when it smelled of nail polish remover on me!

“Cream bouquet” smelled very powdery on me, as well. I read that they intended it to be layered and I agree: There didn't seem to be much dimension to the notes. No offense to “Stila” lovers!

I thought the Midnight Bloom bottle was better than the juice too.
