Breath Palette, the Japanese toothpaste company, is launching their range of 31 flavored toothpastes in Europe this year after doing very well in the United States over the Christmas shopping season:
The complete palette comprises exotic flavours such as Sweet Salt, Blueberry, Pumpkin Pudding, Fuji Apple, Japanese Plum and Monkey Banana. And for the more traditional there is even a peppermint variety.
The mouth flavour is said to last for a few seconds and finishes off with a light menthol yaste. It has also been made without harsh chemicals, is sugar- and alcoholf-free and has a low-evervescence.
Read more about the Breath Palette line at cosmeticsdesign. The toothpastes are available in the United States at lacremebeauty and Nordstrom. They are $4.75 each, and I am tempted by Kyoto Green Tea — please comment if you've tried any of them!
I am a Marvis girl (Paradise Fruit Mint) and quite monagamous; at least when it comes to toothpaste. I can't imagine what Pumpkin Pudding toothpaste would taste like. I'd consider trying them; out of sheer bordom if nothing else! 🙂
Thanks for commenting…I tried but couldn't remember the name of the other scented toothpaste company. I keep meaning to try the Marvis Jasmine mint.
A local store has them, I'll have to buy one or two and try them out. There was a fig one that looked interesting….
I had Rose, Japanese Peach, and Lavender. I liked Japanese peach best. They're very low suds toothpaste compared to commercial toothpastes, so I didn't like the texture so much. But they're a nice look and nice size for your purse.
Oh, fig is very tempting! I didn't notice that one…
Rose & peach both sound nice. Lavender: not for me. I don't mind low suds (have used Toms and they are about the same) but “nice size for your purse” is worrisome, are they tiny??
I am using the White Peach now, and have tried a few others in the past. The flavor is quite subtle, and not a lot happens while brushing, but they make kitschy gifts and are a great travel size.
Thanks M. Cracking up at “not a lot happens while brushing” 🙂
I have the Sweet Salt. I ordered it from Drugstore.com, but I don't know whether they still carry the line.
It tastes … pretty much how it sounds! Very strange. I don't love it. I have to say, though, if you've eaten garlic or something “aromatic”, this stuff will totally neutralize the taste/smell of it. And the little tubes are kind of adorable!
Trying to imagine Sweet Salt…not sure I'd love it either but now I want to try it!
Since everyone is commenting on the size, but you didn't get a direct answer, Robin, I thought I might mention that they're rather teeny for the price. Do you use a very small amount, I wonder? Or maybe they're more expensive here…I was interested in some individual flavours, as well as the pallettes with several tubes in various modes (sweet, savory, zen or something?), but I shivered at the cost on my reduced income.
Thanks Tig, I was getting the distinct feeling that these aren't the size of regular toothpaste tubes, LOL…still, might have to try a few!
I have a few of these, too – I'm using the Green Tea at work right now, and although I don't really notice much green tea flavour/scent, the paste really does seem to neutralize whatever I ate for lunch.
I'm going to use my tube of White Peach next. I don't know that I'd repurchase, but I'll use the ones I've got!
I was worried the Green tea might not have much flavor…going to check at Nordstrom, I wonder if they have any sampling program for these? Probably not 😉
I keep kicking myself for not buying these when I was in Japan last year. Almost exactly one year ago, in fact! I was having cool-stuff-overload (all the neat Japanese cosmetics/skincare was just too much to bear!) when I saw the display, so I didn't pick up a tube or three. I'm glad I can read about it here! 😉
I'll bet they were cheaper there too? I can't even imagine how wonderful the cosmetics shopping must be in Japan…
it was fun but strange, R! some of the prices were about the same for some items (Shu was the same or a little more in Japan than in the US!) but of course less for some others (like my favorite drug store Kanebo masks!) But the Western lines we have were about twice as expensive there as here…!
It's so funny, how many ladies overseas think the lines in the West are wonderful, while a lot of us out here are oogling the Asian lines!
Shu was MORE? What a disappointment. I love their colors ~ best blush for me, hands down.
Of course the grass is always greener: I'd love to shop for makeup in Japan, here it seems downright dull.
