Fragrance Shopping

Posted by Robin on 29 September 2005 8 Comments

The new Bond no. 9 store on Bleecker Street in the West Village of New York City opens officially tomorrow, and the first 100 customers will get a free cupcake from the Magnolia Bakery next store. Read all about it in the New York Times.

UK perfume boutique Scent Systems has started a bespoke fragrance service. Owner Hiram Green, working in conjunction with George Dodd of Aroma Sciences, will create a custom scent for £150. The price includes a 30 ml bottle of perfume; refills are £120. (via responsesource)

I visited the New Bond store last Monday. Small but nice with floor to ceiling mirrored displays.

I had to buy my own cupcake.

LOL — hope the cupcake was worth the trip ;-)

V, in the picture of the store there is something displayed all along one wall that looks almost like CD discs, what is that???

Looks like 2 stories are sharing the same reply link.

Hiram from Scent Systems is a friend of mine and his store is certainly worth visiting. I have not experienced his bespoke service but have certainly been treated to sniffing his fabulous collection of Aftelier perfumes.

I didn't see the picture, but my guess is it was just the outter boxes, maybe of the smaller bottles. White with the gold round logos.

OMG! I'd so love to do a custom w/ George Dodd. He's the most fascinating man. If you call to speak to him, he will enthusiastically talk forever about creating scents – tremendous knowldege. A real joy to hear that sort of love for one's art.

Thanks for commenting, I hadn't heard of George Dodd. Glad to know they have someone knowledgeable. I do think it is a reasonable price as custom fragrances go.
