New & more new: L'Artisan, Rance & Wickle

Posted by Robin on 22 September 2005 18 Comments

L'Artisan Mure et Musc special edition

New from L'Artisan: a limited edition of Mûre et Musc in a signed bottle by Pierre Dinand. The 150 ml bottles will be sold at 190€ each. This might be even cuter than last year's lovely green fig bottle for Premier Figuier. Also look for a Mûre et Musc coffret discovery set with a 15 ml Eau de Toilette, small tubes of shower gel and body cream, and a votive candle.

Two new fragrances from Rancé debuted last month. Both are derived from scents that founder François Rancé created to the specifications of Napoleon Bonaparte in 1805. Le Vainqueur for men features Mediterranean citrus fruits, exotic melon, watermelon, ginger, nutmeg, jasmine, lily of the valley, lavender, geranium, leather, iris wood, ambergris and musk. Joséphine for women has been released in its original formula; the notes are May rose, hawthorn, jasmine, ylang ylang, hyacinth, iris, blackcurrant, white peach, cloves, galbanum, violet leaves, ebony, sandalwood, white musk, Bourbon vanilla and ambergris.

Wickle is a new line from London, debuting with four Eau de Parfums: "fresh, green Periwinkle, sensual Muskmallow, refined Scented Tea Leaf and sultry Chestnut & Vetiver". Very cool bottles, check them out at wallpaper or at the firm's website, ticklemywickle. Update: see a review of Wickle Chestnut & Vetiver.

OK, that bottle is the cutest.

It also reminds me of these plastic purple grape-cluster shaped juice bottles they used to sell in amusement parks. Those things got me so excited as a kid. I don't even think the juice was that great, but I loved those bottles. I'd forgotten them entirely until now.

It is very dresser-worthy. I admire the fig bottle every time I see it.

Gah! That bottle is ADORABLE and I want it badly even though I don't even like Mure et Musc. I love that its opaque and therefore dresser-displayable!

All of these bottles are cute, especially the Metm one. Too bad I don't like MetM! :)

Those Wickle fragrances sound interesting, too. Chestnut and Vetiver, R? Sounds intriguing….

    Hugs!

It really is wonderful. Have been reading more about Pierre Dinard today and he has done some fabulous bottles. I must find out if he did the L'Artisan fig bottle too.

I know, A, there really should be more bottles in dark or opaque glass. I hate to have all mine cowering in the cupboards!

I have to own that bottle! Aiyee! Could it be any more adorable? And yet I know nothing about the scent. 190 Euros, though… I wince in pain just thinking about it. But oh! how I long to get my hands on that cute little thing.

… and in my excitement I completely skipped over “ticklemywickle.” Hee! I need something from their line just so I can layer it with Cumming for the ultimate in socially unmentionable scents.

Unfortunately it isn't my favorite L'Artisan, so really I would do much better with the green fig bottle for Premier Figuier.

Too cute! Too cute! I want the little grape bottle! Must have! Sadly, too broke.

Wickle was a cute l'il perfume site as well.

I was drooling over the description of “Josephine” by Rance, as well as several other scents on their site. I've never heard of this old perfume company before – anyone ever tried any of their scents? There's something romantic about long-established perfume houses.

I have not tried anything from Rancé & I think perhaps these are only recently being distributed in the US (?)

Actually, that MetM bottle is a re-issue. I know because I have one! Although I don't think the ones that came out in '98 were signed, they were identical. They originally were produced in celebration of MetM's 20th birthday.

I'm so glad the flacons are back. These are truly gorgeous and while I never wear MetM anymore the blackberry flacon is one of my treasures. I love that with the dark colored glass I'm able to safely display it without too much worry over the juice altering in light.

Thanks so much for commenting, I saw it on Pierre Dinand's website as “1998”, but thought that must have been a mistake. Glad they brought this bottle back, it is lovely!

I had the pleasure of coming across Rance's Josephine yesterday while I was in Lübeck Germany at a lovely perfume boutique. I tried some on and was so drawn to the the fragrance through all of it's stages. The dry down is just fantastic. The rose is very evident as a top note, but the end notes are very warm and sensual. This is the most impressed I have been with a fragrance in a long time. I am definitely getting a bottle and I will surely wear it often. It is such a pleasure.
