Back to reality

Posted by Robin on 9 August 2005 29 Comments

french friesWe had a wonderful beach vacation and as expected, I ate quite a few french fries. Also salt water taffy, crepes, and ice cream. I managed to stick to my usual beach-week weight gain of 5 pounds, although that is just a guess as I have no intention of stepping on the scale today.

I did not wear any perfume at all, and despite the heat most everyone on the boardwalk appeared to be wearing Angel or something very like it.

Will be catching up on emails and laundry today, and will be back tomorrow with a real perfume review.

F, you will have to trust me on the 5 lbs. I ate an awful lot of food.

Thank you L, I love pasta with cream & sausage. I ate a banana, sour cream & chocolate crepe for you as well (actually, ate 2 of them), hope you liked it ;-)

I thought it was good but it wasn't nearly as good as the blueberry/blackberrry shortcake with creme anglaise and whipped cream that i had for you on Saturday night. Remember?

I'm sorry your holiday is over, but so pleased to have you back with us, R! Afternoons just aren't the same without NST. And I'm glad you ate lots of fries – that's what holdiays are for.

Sounds like a great vacation! I am very happy to see you back and cannot wait to read more of your reviews. Like VanillaGirl said, afternoons (or mornings in my case) are not the same without NST.

hi R, missed you! Great you had your yearly fry pigout, sorry for the Angel air you had to breathe. Hey, I actually like to Ormonde Jayne — the Ormonde Man and Isfahan. The drydowns are perfect for any boardwalk, woody and dry and clean.

A, I am so glad you like at least 2 of them. Interesting that you take the men's over the women's…is there less synthetic musk in the men's?

The description says there's some of the musk in the OM, but I can't detect it! It is funny I like the men's over the women's scents. The women's scents are just all over the place, IMO, and too many have the musk overload. Heck, when you can't smell the osmanthus in Osmanthus, something ain't cricket.

Hey, what's your favorite salt water taffy? Mine is chocolate, then vanilla. Can't get it down here. And, I'll have to educate you about fried Taylor's pork roll, even though I'm vegetarian now. Obviously you bypassed the charms of Atlantic City in your getaway. Wouldn't anybody? lol

I am weeping yet again for my poor misunderstood OJ Osmanthus — so let's move on to taffy, LOL! We found a Fralinger taffy store, and I think they are originally from Atlantic City so perhaps you have tried their taffy. I like chocolate best, but was really taken with their butter toffee, which maybe isn't taffy at all, what do I know? Anyway, it is very good and my son is now addicted to it. Cheaper than perfume, at least.
