Spotted at TJ Maxx yesterday…

Posted by Robin on 5 March 2005 6 Comments

My TJ Maxx was unusually well stocked yesterday, but I think the only thing I saw that I hadn't seen there lately was an Escada Margaretha Ley gift set. Other bargains: Ivoire de Balmain, White Shoulders, Alfred Sung Sha, Cacharel Amor Amor & Anais Anais, Versace The Dreamer, and Trussardi Skin.

Anything good at your discount store this week?

Lately, Paula Dorf Zita, Boucheron parfum, to name two that are unusual finds. Also both Capri and Venezia by Adrienne Vittadini. Paloma Picasso has been there lately, Murmure by VC&A, and Burberry London (and Weekend.)

It's not like the good old days when you could find a truly special something! But still, it's fun to look (and occasionally find a gem!)

Darn, I wish Zita would turn up at my local store!!! I hear it is very nice.

I tried the Burberry “Weekend”. It introduced itself well on my skin–smelled very clean at first, than it dryed down into a sickly sweet berry/chemical rub. Kind of like luden's cough drops, but sweeter. I had the “Capri!” Nice, but a bit too grassy/bamboo-like for my tastes. I know! There was a time when you could find amazing things at TJMaxx. The occasional thrilling finds are exciting, though.

If only “White Shoulders” stayed what it once was! I remember the pink powder puff box on my Grandmother's dresser. It was a soft and powdery–yet rich–scent. Now it just sort of smells…empty. My grandmother noticed the change. Now she's wearing the “Spring Flowers” fragrance I gave her recently.

The thrilling finds are rarer than they used to be, for sure!

I used to wear White Shoulders, but can hardly remember it now it has been so long.
