Caerhays x 5
Caerhays Castle in Cornwall, normally open from February to June, has the largest collection of magnolias in the UK, and impressive collections of other flowering trees and shrubs as well. The current owner, Charles Williams, appears in a number of these videos; he also owns Burncoose Nurseries. We start with a 2014 video for an introduction to Caerhays and Burncoose, followed by (below the jump), drone footage of the magnolias from March of this year (3 1/2 minutes). Then from May of last year, Mr. Williams talks about the scented rhododendrons at Caerhays (about 5 minutes), followed by a more general tour from this week of the azaleas and rhododendrons blooming in the garden (7 minutes), and then a late April tour of three magnolias (4 minutes).
Citrus x 3
First, the citrus collection of the Hanbury Botanical Gardens, near Ventimiglia, Italy. Below the jump, a Givaudan 360° (use your cursor!) video about the citrus collection at UC Riverside. Then, a recipe for “Hearty Salad with Radicchio, Fennel, Grapefruit and Hazelnuts” from Berkeley café Bartavelle (you can find the recipe online here).
We will bring Keukenhof to you, part 2
We haven’t checked in with the Keukenhof garden in Lisse since March, so here are a few updates. First, an 8 minute 360° (use your cursor!) walk though the garden. Then, below the jump, Managing Director Bart Siemerink talks about the different types of tulips. Last, Gardener Daan shows you the Beach Garden, Mill forest and the fountain.
Greetings from Tennessee
Four videos, starting with a 2 minute introduction to the Memphis Botanic Garden, from 2018. Then below the jump, a 3 minute tour of the (March) spring blooms at Cheekwood in Nashville, followed by a 4 minute tour of the gardens at The Hermitage, the home of Andrew Jackson (also near Nashville). Last, for the kids, making aluminum foil sculpture with Mr. JT from the Dixon Gallery and Gardens in Memphis (and there are more craft projects at their YouTube channel).
