From Scents of Wood, the Bread in Chestnut candle: "An explosion of refined balsams in Scents of Wood's Bread in Chestnut candle brings a golden opulence to the gourmand category. Perfumer Meabh McCurtin created a decadent and comforting balsamic bread signature by combining the buttery, creamy facets of sandalwood with the toasted warmth of bran absolute and almond tonalities of tonka bean. Fresh, camphoraceous rosemary and smoky incense cut through the gourmand sweetness to give it more depth. The result is a refined edible fragrance that is inviting and addictive." $70 for 225g at Ministry of Scent.

Add to my pile of "want, never going to pay for" lemmings (although as these things go, the price could be much, much worse): the limited edition La Figue candle from L'Artisan. "Handcrafted in France at a renowned French manufacture, this exquisite porcelain candle is adorned with a beautiful hand-painted design. Its captivating fig fragrance encompasses the essence of the tree in its entirety – from its luscious fruit to its leaf and wood. This candle is encased in a limited edition sleeve inspired by the winter herbarium, evoking the essence of the festive season." $280 for 400g at L'Artisan Parfumeur, where you'll also find the candle in L'Ambre, or in a boxed set of both for $560.

From Parfums de Nicolaï, a Christmas Pudding candle: "Christmas pudding is a fruity, spicy treat with soft brioche notes. Reminiscent of a traditional Christmas pudding with custard, the vanilla facets channel the aromatic inflections of berries, grapes and plums. Clove and cinnamon are at the heart of this berry note, with vanilla and caramel coating the flavourful festive scent." 190g for €54.

From Aedes de Venustas, the Cellarius candle: "Perfumer Olivia Giacobetti created the scent of an old-world astronomical observatory inspired by Andreas Cellarius, a Dutch–German cartographer and cosmographer best known for his Harmonia Macrocosmica, a major star atlas from the year 1660." With spices, papyrus, rosewood and cedar, $79.50 at Aedes.

From the Oriente Italiano collection at Ginori 1735, (pretty but spendy) home fragrances for Holiday 2023: "Two new fragrances explore new olfactory universes: Cuoio Rosso, with its fruity-woody notes, emanates a vibrant energy in the room. Vicolo Dell'Oro, with refreshing floral and musky notes, to accompany moments of pleasant relaxation." Neiman Marcus has a bunch of the items for pre-order, including the candles in 250g ($210) and 700g ($420), the candle vase (right rear, $880) and its refill (far right, 1520g, $190), the diffuser in 200 ml ($180) or 500 ml ($270), and the diffuser vase (shown above center, $1350). Also shown are the two scented stone boxes (which appear to be sold separately from the actual stones with diffuser oil) those are not at Neiman Marcus as of yet.
