I'll take twenty bottles, please: Cloud of Protection from By Nieves, in a handy 30 ml spray. "Envelop yourself in a Cloud of Protection safe from illness, bad vibes and stinkiness. When theres sickness in the air its nice to have a defense at your fingertips. Essential oils work very effectively on airborne pathogens. The essential oil molecules are very small. They stay suspended in the air a long time, providing you with a shield from airborne bacteria and viruses. Because essential oils vibrate at a high frequency, they not only protect you physically they can lift your spirits as well. Bad vibes can pollute your space and bring you down. Cloud of Protection empowers you to change your surroundings, making room for good fortune and happiness. Clear the air, clear the space, proceed gracefully." No idea what it smells like, but the ingredients include eucalyptus, juniper, rose, cedar and benzoin. $7.50 at Beautyhabit (also available in 120 ml for $18).
The daily lemming
I'll take a vat, please: Deep Relax Balm by Aromatherapy Associates. "Take a moment and focus on yourself while enjoying the combination of Vetivert, Chamomile and Sandalwood essential oils working their powers in our Deep Relax Balm. Ideal for your handbag, this deeply effective balm works to gently soothe your mind and body in your moment of mindfulness." Around $25 for 7 ml.
A greater performance
Wheeling Jesuit University psychology professor Bryan Raudenbush and athletic training major Juan Pablo Troconis Bello, studied the performance of 18 rugby players over a two-month period late last year. During the first month, players used the peppermint mouth guards. Then the second month they used the traditional unscented, unflavored mouth piece. [...] [Raudenbush] said the use of a peppermint flavored mouth guard led the athletes to believe they had a greater sense of safety, were more energized and motivated, and had “a greater performance during games or practice.”

The daily lemming
I probably need one of these: a flax seed + lavender eye pillow, "perfectly weighted for gentle relaxation". Shown in "Venetian Blue" silk, but available in other patterns as well (and also sold in matching eye masks and hot/cold packs). $26 at Elizabeth W.
If you like what you smell
If you like what you smell, you take deeper, slower breaths. Just the act of doing that has a calming, beneficial effect. Aromatherapy works, but maybe not for the reason people think it’s working.
