The ninth edition of a poll about transitional fragrances: what are your favorite fragrances as summer turns to fall this year? What scent makes you happy as the nights get chilly and the days take on that crisp edge? And tell us what perfume you wish you owned for chilly weather.
(Or, if you’re like me, tell us what fragrances will allow you to hang on to that summer feeling just a little bit longer. And of course, if winter is turning to spring where you are, adjust the questions accordingly.)
Or, as always, talk about something else…

Happy Saturday, everyone!
It’s my birthday, and though it’s always something of a mixed bag, I’m grateful for so much in my life, especially having health for me and my loved ones. I’m looking forward to another trip around the sun, as they say.
I think I’ll wear some vintage Aramis – an old-school classic seems an appropriate way of celebrating the aging process!
Cheers to all who make this forum such a delightful place to hang out.😊
Happy birthday, Daniel! Still commando at this point but will decide on … something … later.
Happy birthday, and what a lovely, healthy, optimistic outlook you have! Enjoy!
Happy happy birthday!!! Have a fabulous one!
Birthday wishes!
Happy Birthday Daniel! You smell wonderful in Aramis. It brings fond memories of my dad as he applied that with abandon. I loved it!
I laughed when I read “applied with abandon.” My father did the same thing. I was in a high school play and he came late, after the play had started. I was playing Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons and I became totally distracted by wafts of his Aramis!
Ha – love the story about your dad’s Aramis.
I could smell my dad a mile away, but I loved it on him.
Happy Birthday! 🎂
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Daniel!
Happy Birthday Daniel!Hope it’s a great day and a wonderful trip around the sun!✌🏻🕺🏼
Best wishes on your birthday and Aramis is a great classic.
Happy Birthday! A toast to you!
Happiest of birthdays to you, Daniel!💐
Happy birthday!
Happy happy birthday to you, Daniel. Smelling terrific as always!!
Happy Scented Birthday Daniel! Congrats on surviving another trip around our Daystar. 🌞🌞🎂🎂
Thank you all for the lovely birthday wishes!😊
Happy Birthday, Daniel! 🎉
I hope it was a wonderful birthday!
Happy belated birthday!
A very belated happy birthday Daniel! Hope it was a good weekend and you managed to fit in some cake 🙂
We’re having a cloudy, fall-looking day here, but sadly not very fall-feeling as it will be hot and muggy out there. But because I’m an autumn fan and it at least looks like fall, I went with Under My Skin, a very transition-y scent. Serendipity!
Very fall-feeling here, hope your weather has improved!
My one fall staple is Yves Rocher Nature Homme Millénaire, which smells like autumn — damp earth, crunchy leaves, spices galore. I’ll break it out on September 22nd and not a minute sooner. (Although I was tempted on September 1st, meteorological fall, but it was still summer — rainy and humid and gross. I’ll wait until it’s properly autumnal, with the promise of a cool dry season.)
Today it’s beating down rain so we’re staying inside (I did go to the gym, which fortunately is in our building). I was in the mood for something classic so I’m in vintage Ted Lapidus Création, a proper eighties chypre, not miles away from others of its ilk such as Ungaro Diva and Paloma Picasso Mon Parfum, but still its own glorious thing.
Thank you, was not sure what the first day of fall was this year and now I know 🙂
Happy weekend!
Typhoon just pass by and it brought loads of heavy rain. Not a fan. But at least it’s *slightly* cooler for a day or two.
The arrival of fall means I can finally bring out my beloved ouds. Gucci’s The Voice of The Snake and A Reason To Love, LV Ombre Nomade. ON is very nicely blended, if you happen to pass by a LV do give it a spritz.
Fall transition also means heavier gourmands. Bee, Tobacco Honey, BR540, Good Girl Gone Bad Extreme…etc.
I’m glad the typhoon has passed, and hope your area didn’t have too much damage.
Not much damage thankfully. Tons of thunderclaps and lightning flashes but pretty much all bark and no bite!
Thanks for a reminder of honey scents! I’ve several that could use an airing, including Bee.
We are going to be smelling deeeelicious!
That typhoon was a really big one, wasn’t it?
Yes it was. It was classified as a super typhoon.
Yikes.
A lovely day here again! Mid 70’s with blinding sunshine and a bluebird sky. Yesterday I didn’t even have to turn on the A/C.
I’m still smelling a bit like Chypre Mousse even though I showered and wearing a different shirt. I think a bit must have gotten on my bra when I spritzed, so still smelling pretty amazing. I may re-spritz or go with something else, not sure yet.
As for fall fragrances…well, my heart beats a bit faster with all the lovely fall and winter fragrances I have lined up. Orientals (do they still use that word?), ambers, smokey woods, warm spices, leather- I want to wear them all, sometimes at the same time! Can’t wait for sweater weather, hot tea with honey and lemon, seeing T-Rex looking adorable and cozy in her fleece, changing colors of the landscape, relaxing by a campfire and watching the sun go down, brisk breezes, snuggling under the covers at night, falling leaves, putting on a scarf before stepping outside and trying to figure out the conglomeration of scents cozied there in, having a bit more energy to do things…all of it! Should be fall 9 months of the year as far as I’m concerned.
Hope everyone has a happy weekend!
The bra thing happened to me earlier this week, when I was wearing Tubéreuse Criminelle and my bra was still giving of puffs of Goutal’s Passion. I must admit the combination was stunning (they share tuberose)
Nothing like an accidentally stumbling into “stunning!” 😄
I think it should be fall for 9 months of the year, too! And spring for the other 3. 😄
Could I persuade you to 6 months of both?
Perhaps!
But you got me thinking about this more. How about this:
5 months spring
5 months fall
1 month winter
1 month summer
Just so that we don’t lose our appreciation of spring and fall. 😁
Great Plan!
AnnE we are in complete agreement about the seasons!
A kindred spirit. 💗
I am just back from 3 days at the beach and we had that same weather! Low 70s — just warm enough to lie in the sand, to me, way too cold to swim but lots of people were doing just that — beautifully sunny, cool nights.
I’m in complete denial about autumn approaching so I’m wearing a summer favourite: Manoumalia. Had a restful day, some shopping some washing and will start on making a batch of tomato soup shortly.
I am in denial too but gosh, the angle of light is not cooperating with my fantasy 🙂
Autumn in my favorite season. I have already made spice muffins-it just involves regular cake batter with nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, allspice…
For the farmers market this morning I wore Frédéric Malle Eau de Magnolia.
After the shower Initio Side Effect-
I don’t really limit my perfume based on seasons, but curious to read other peoples list.
What I do like for fall- is shopping!!!! I just bought a new pair of cowboy style boots and a chocolate brown tartan “mens” style blazer for fall!
I love fall clothes. Your new purchases sound perfect.
I had been thinking that my big souvenir purchase in Galway would be a pair of bespoke tweed trousers, but the maker I had in mind seems to have gone in a very different direction. Still, they are local, so I will connect with them to see what’s what.
I bought a few tops for fall, but I have quite a few from last year so trying to restrain myself.
I just made my perfume tray switch on my dressing table to fall scents. These are my steady go-to favs I like to have close at hand. After the switch my first choice was Hermetica. Fall is spices, leaves, deeper vanilla, my beloved Bulgari Black. Besides the tray the shower gels got changed out too. It’s not quite sweater weather yet here in Minnesota but I’m ready! Fall is my favorite time of year.
I wanted to make my perfume tray switch too, but in South Dakota it is going to be in the 80’s next week so I am going to wait a little bit.
lol, I’m jumping the gun on fall. But I’m moving to Porto Portugal for 2 months later in September, I’ll return right before Thanksgiving.
Oooh — we were just in Porto and it was lovely, though we were doing the tourist stuff in August and it was a bit overrun. September – November would be lovely there, I bet.
I am thinking of moving to Porto for ever.
It’s on the list.
Lucky you!!
I’m in 4160 Tuesdays Hush Hush edt today. This is a pretty good transition scent as it has some depth but is still close to the skin. Hopefully the weather cool down will be here next week as promised!
Some of my other transition scents are Chanel No. 19 edt and the Poudre version. May have to bring out the Shalimar body creme for night time. I think Fall is my favorite time of year; so many good scents to wear.
Shalimar body creme sounds wonderful – I almost got some this week on FragranceNet, but opted to tighten the purse strings for a few more weeks.
It’s a good one and I keep forgetting that I have it.
I have thought about purchasing Hush Hush, but have restrained myself since I have so many iris scents. Tell me more about it and try to keep me from buying😉
To me it’s more violet and woods than iris; I find it almost dry (which I love in fragrances). Definitely sample worthy!
Thanks Gail!
Had to post this: https://youtu.be/_nNszsrv0rg
That’s a good one!
LOL!
Happy Saturday!
First day of flip-flops and no socks here in SA!LOVE the warmer weather!
Rose Jam showergel and the bodyspray for today!
My skin has been behaving quite well with both Sticky Dates and Rose Jam,so fingers crossed! The Rose Jam bodyspray is SO good,it’s basically an extrait!
No transitional fragrances here,I wear most things year round!
And mostly I decide by craving a particular note, today it was rose.
XO’s!✌🏻🌹
Enjoy your flip flops! 🌞
The time of year when our weather intersects! I am in flip flops right now and have not worn socks in months. Soon enough though…
SOTD = Le Labo Vanille 44
Always a great choice!

In other news, patience is usually good, as in this morning. My Wall Street Journal subscription is supposed to expire on September 9. I called today to stop the auto-renewal and had my violin out for the $234 it would cost me to extend for another year. Lo and behold, after speaking to a 2nd person, I am getting another year at $99! I am “saving” $135 – woo hoo!
Speaking of BMI, take a gander at this article from The New York Times. I suppose this is what 50_roses was talking about in her comment.
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/06/health/body-roundness-index-bmi.html?unlocked_article_code=1.Ik4.K9zq.rf3-CoHQOgFj&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
Yay for getting a discount! That’s a great savings.
It is great savings!
My NYT just went up 3clams a month.
So annoying.
That doesn’t seem too bad. I have to think of what to say for the renewal next year.
Thanks for the link on BRI. That article was very interesting!
We don’t really get a season of autumn per se here in southeast Texas. At some point in October you begin to notice it’s not sweltering outside. Around Christmastime some trees on the streets here and there turn color. Crisp and cool doesn’t happen. Nevertheless there are certain small nudges that you notice, such as a little bit more of a fresh breeze sometimes. In honor of the changing seasons, in theory at least, I wore CdG Daphne today. Like others here, I like to recognize the fall with something that has a bit of spice and amber. Haven’t worn this in awhile and I had forgotten how very orange-y it is. I love that aspect of it!
From the time I lived in Houston, I remember a couple of years Christmas was in the 80s.
Mr. Ockeghem just got an invite to do a day of consulting on a book proposal for a young faculty member just outside Dallas. I told him to jump on it, but only if it’s winter so he can appreciate lovely warm temps. 🙂
I want to hang on to summer, maybe because I haven’t taken my annual vacation yet which will start Sep 21st. I chose Cacharel Eden, the green wonder, one of my weirdest perfumes.
Don’t you usually go in August?
Usually beginning of September😀
Your vacation is a little late this year. Avoiding the Olympics?
It’s because my brother has work obligations and couldn’t leave Paris.
Gotcha. Safe travels!
There are lots of happy folk here today – some of you love the approach of autumn and I’m equally delighted by spring. I’m looking out at a beautiful sunny morning, which is a nice change from yesterday. It was cloudy and very windy, our usual Saturday walk around the waterfront was hard work.
I’ve got a bit of housework to do to prepare for my mother’s visit in a week or so. She’d never comment, but I want to have everything nice. In the spirit of spring cleaning, I’m wearing AG’s Le Chèvrefeuille.
Ha, my mom would comment!! You smelled fantastic today, perfect spring scent.
OOPs…you smelled fantastic Saturday! I am terribly late.
Woke up to 52F and a golden sunrise for an early morning walk. However, the Sun was not quite over most of the trees and so it was rather chilly the whole way. In fact, I was downright cold for the first 10 minutes, as a reward for saying “nah” to a jacket. But I did get a few moments of probably my favorite weather sensation, chilly air and warm sun. Generously sprayed Coco edp in honor of the change and it was delightful in the crisp air, though it did not match my lemon yellow, short-sleeved polo shirt :D. I will probably wear Shalimar more this fall; I need to get the flankers in rotation so MT and I can spend time together.
I went with Shalimar MI today as it seems like a good transition scent to me.
Sampling Complicated Shadows today and it’s wonderful! I am behind on the last couple years of releases from 4160 Tuesdays so I ordered a bunch of samples and am working my way through them. I tried Fluffy Lemon Top and Hammersmith Tea & Biscuit in the last week too and think I may need FBs of all of them. 😅 🍋 🍨
For those who have tried the Clouds series, which one is your favorite please? I did not participate in original crowdfund for Clouds…don’t think I was subscribed to their emails and it wasn’t on my radar…but I wish I did had! Lament that oversight but I do have a sample of the original Clouds which is wonderful. I love Both Sides of Clouds too. I didn’t realize Fluffy Lemon Top is part of the series when I ordered the sample either.
Hey there! Just let me know which Clouds you have and I will send you samples of the rest. Please email me when you get a chance. I have one other package pending to be sent.
😍 Thank you so much! Just emailed you!
I was lucky and asked Sarah if Clouds was still available when I got the Hush Hush trio. If you end up loving it, it doesn’t hurt to email her directly.
Thanks, Gail! That’s a good idea. I emailed a question about what could be included for a trio of 15 mls and Sarah responded herself…I was quite awestruck. 😊 I know she is very active and responds to inquiries herself but I was still awe and starstruck. 🤩 ehaeheh
As was I. She responded directly to me as well, very promptly too!
I’m wearing Tauer Lonestar Memories on a hazy day. We’re heading to my BIL’s 50th birthday party barbecue in his yard and the fragrance choice seemed to fit. Not sure what the weather is going to do today with the smoke cover so I have many layering options, including my long down coat. I hate being cold😬
I generally wear a hodgepodge of fragrance all year but Calypso’s sotd reminded me how much I like Daphne. I prefer big fragrances because nothing lasts on me. Nuit de Bakelite, Lampblack and Rien are a few notable exceptions😊
Have fun at the party!
Thank you! Thank heavens it was warm enough and much fun was had by all❤️
Have fun (you made me smile with your down coat. I just walked to the farmers’ market in my t-shirt and leggings). I think you will be warm enough! And smelling wonderful.
Oh oops – I guess this was yesterday!
Glad to hear that you enjoyed both the BBQ and the weather for it!
It’s the last day of high heat here, and I am looking forward to temps in the 70’s next week. I got ink on my pants on Wednesday and after trying to get it out I was left with a big blue stain instead of a small black one. I went to TJMaxx to get new pants (I have a one out, one in closet policy) and success! A nice linen blend that just skims my ankle. I wore Chypre Mousse to go with my mossy green nail color. The new pants are green, too.
I just bought a pair of mossy green pants. We have good taste 😊
Enjoying my leisurely Saturday. I went on a drive with my family this morning, we had yummy breakfast sandwiches and tater tots. Then we walked to a terrific bookstore where I picked up a used copy of Klara and the Sun. SOTD is Nightingale.
Like MossyBerry, I’m looking forward to wearing my Shalimars this fall. Especially all the millesime flankers, in anticipation of the new one. I’m also looking forward to wearing my spicy scents, like Arabie, Jungle l’Elephant, and African Leather.
That’s a great book, enjoy!
SOTD is Shalimar MI as I think this is a good transitional scent. I also look forward to wearing Chanel No 5 EDT, Iris Poudre, VCA Bois d’Iris and Eau de Protection to name a few.
Like many others, I am anticipating that the new Shalimar millesime flanker will be a good one.
I am so excited for this years Shalimar as well! I wonder what note will be highlighted this year.
I had heard jasmine, but lately everyone has said rose so I am guessing that’s probably what it will be.
Ooooh I love rose! Can’t wait!
It’s 51 degrees here. I’m wearing a undershirt, a sweater and I brought my coat for when I leave work tonight. Lol. I hate the cold. I do though prefer cold weather appropriate perfume. I am looking forward to wearing the Shalimars, the Muglers and LVEB L’Extrait. Also Dune and Coco. ( I am the rare person that prefers Dune in the winter)
Thanks to a generous nster I am wearing Armani Si tonight. It’s perfect for Fall. I think I might look into some of the flankers.
Cold hater twins!😊
Keep warm, I too am looking forward to wearing LVEB l’extrait and Iris Absolu too.
Wasn’t it chilly Saturday? And windy! I wore a sweater and coat too.
You’ve got a nice list there. Not chilly here yet. I am so not into switching things out and I will wait until I cannot tolerate it anymore before I start wearing my fall jacket.
Sending you some summer-like warmth!
And I forgot to mention that I prefer Dune in the winter, too. Just doesn’t work as well on me in hot weather.
We have had a couple days of false fall but it’s supposed to get hot again soon, so my fragrance choices are all over the place. For the transition, I like Yesterday Haze and Slow Explosions from Imaginary Authors, PdN New York, more Shalimar, more Coco. Today will be warmer, so I think I’m going to wear my current favorite, No 5 L’Eau.
I just saw that the temperatures will be going up to the 80’s this week. Good thing because I am not ready to turn the furnace on yet.
This winter, try L’Eau when it is cold and snowy. It will brighten the day!
Sounds good!
Except the cold and snowy part lol
Another cool, gorgeous morning but now it’s looking a little iffy. Might get some rain later today.
Wearing Onda VdE today and reveling in it. It’s a very “deep” perfume if that makes sense. Every time I wear it, it’s just a bit different than the last time. She’s moody. I guess that’s why we get along. Hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday. ✌🏼
I relaxed so much I did not look at comments til Monday…did not even open my email this weekend! Hope yours was easy.
What day does your job end? I know you’ve said and I’ve probably forgotten when you leave for France.
Good for you! Relaxation really needs to be in the top 3 of everyone’s “To Do” list. Campground closes the 21st of September and I leave for my trip October 17th.
Wow, that’s so soon. You must be getting very excited.
I went on a wonderful walk today near the Moselle. Gorgeous weather, around 24 degrees, so not too hot. Started the day in Duel, and added some Calyx (I’m the proud and lucky owner of a Prescriptives bottle of this gem) for good measure.
Isn’t Calyx by Prescriptives fantastic? I have a back up bottle of it for good measure. You must smell amazing!
Lucky you to have the Prescriptives version of Calyx for sure! The Clinique one isn’t the same.
I don’t have much for transitional fragrances in my samples here. I’ve got some deep winter stuff (Ummagumma, Felanilla, Eau de Fröhliche), and some straight up summer stuff (Jardin sur le Nil, You or Someone Like You). Today I went for Bogue Mem; the sample’s about finished off. It’s somewhat transitional? Along with Paestum Rose and Sienne l’hiver, and Lyric is nicely transitional, too.
Summer appears to have officially ended here, like a light switched off. Yesterday it was 30C and we were sitting outside at the local wine festival enjoying the weather and the wine. From here on out it seems highs will be just under 20C and lows will be in the single digits (!). Today was rain and more rain, with a bunch of storms sweeping through. I’m still not used to thunderstorms and how quickly they pop up. I grew up with them, but we don’t get them at all at home.
Paestum Rose & Sienne L’Hiver both fantastic transitional scents. Still can’t believe they don’t make them anymore.
NEZ Ambre à Levres today. I need to wear this more often. It’s just so beautiful yet perfect for any day.
Just got my COVID and flu shots. A bit earlier than I wanted, but I have some upcoming surgery and particularly want to avoid being sick beforehand.
One thing I need to rectify is trying the scents from Nez. How would you describe their amber?
I hope you don’t get any bad side effects from the vaccine shots! I got mine a few days ago and had only fatigue and a slight headache. There is hope!
It’s hard to find now. I’m wondering if I should have bought a back-up bottle. It’s the perfect iris/violet/rose/suede lipstick-type fragrance. And not too rich or heavy for everyday.
It’s such a beauty. I just found it on the nez-editions.us website.
Good to know!
Yay- didn’t know they had a US website!
Hmm, sounds nice, thanks!
Hope your arm is feeling OK now. Those shots can hurt!
I got one in each arm. Both arms are pretty sore, but I am feeling fine otherwise. Very worth it!
A very nice day with white clouds and sun, on the fresh side, 20C. I’ve just made a mozzarella omelette, I rarely eat eggs but needed a little bit of protein all of a sudden in my vegetarian diet, eaten with two slices of toast and dessert is fresh strawberries. I chose By Terry Flagrant Delice this morning, an original fig with a pronounced almond facet instead of the proverbial coconut and tonight it’s iPdF Vaniglia del Madagascar, my favorite vanilla along with Laura Mercier Eau gourmande vanillé.
That is just the best Vaniglia, Aurora.
I have a hard time looking at eggs.
So glad you’re a fan of Vaniglia too, ah eggs can be a difficult food.
A mozzarella omelet sounds delish!
I don’t mind eggs, but I have to be in the right mood to make them. They’re kind of a fiddly food.
It was very velvety, really good, and you know really easy to make.
It is still hot in SoCal.
My electric bill will be ginormous this month.
Just came from grocery shopping. Also ginourmous bill.
Am cranky from heat and the general what kind of a world crazyness, but smelling good in Fenty.
You do smell wonderful.
It is crazy hot and expensive living in soCal these days! A friend just returned from a trip to Florida. She told me how much less expensive gasoline, groceries, utilities, and restaurants are there. We both laughed and cried a little bit. 😂
Read about your heatwave, I would be cranky too. I haven’t tried Fenty but I bet you smell great.
You should try it if you get a chance.
It’s a cool, breezy, and sunny day here – a perfect early-fall day. I have spritzed Fat Electrician and am getting out the rest of my vetivers for the days ahead. I 💚 Vetiver! But most of all in the fall.
Oooooooh, Fat Electrician is a wonderful pick for Fall! Been ages since I’ve worn mine.
Have you tried any of the vetiver perfumes from Fzotic?
Yes, I recently bought a bottle of Vetiverissimo and love it! Wore that one yesterday.
Vetiverissimo is an unexpected love for me now. It’s gorgeous! I’ve had my sample for a while, and something just clicked recently.
Another fan! 👍🏻
Do you generally not get along with vetiver?
I have a few perfumes with vetiver in them as a supporting player, but right now only 1 perfume that is vetiver-centric. That would be Fat Electrician.
Elizabeth & James Nirvana Rose is a lovely rose + vetiver perfume. Wonder where mine is hiding?
Nowhere near Autumn temps here today. All my weather apps are saying it’s close to 90 this afternoon, and more is on the way for at least a week. So my transitional perfumes might have to wait a little longer for skin time.
When the weather does cooperate, I am looking forward to wearing Aromatics Elixir, Wrappings, and my older bottles of Samsara EdT/EdP. Who knows what else will work in this different climate?
SOTD = testing Fzotic Soft Focus from the Custom Sampler. I really think Allo and Springpansy should check it out.
Hmmm, interesting. Thanks.
Guava!
Curious noses what to sniff😊
*want
Hello Allo, in that case, you may *want* to check out my swap list on Saturday, September 21
It’s an excellent scent for hot weather. You’ve had a fair amount of that this summer…
AE and Wrappings are so wonderful in cool weather! ❄️💙
Very happy I have BUBs of Wrappings.
You have a great upcoming lineup!
Thank you!
Looking forward to your take on Soft Focus!
As far as Fzotic perfumes go, it’s a quieter one. Very nice guava note on the open! It really does smell like summer to me. And a lovely sandalwood in the base notes.
Not sure what longevity is like for Soft Focus, but it is still hanging around on me.
Such a lovely lineup of perfumes. Have opened your Quartz yet?
I am going to get my bottle of Quartz out of the closet and place it on my dresser. THAT will get me to finally try it!
Hope you are out of the heat soon! It will be fun to experiment with how different perfumes smell in the cold dry weather.
The temps aren’t too bad, despite being well above average for this time of year. Beats snow! And that will be here soon enough.
Jalapeno, did you see the recent Samsara article on Fragrantica by Sergey Borisov? Very interesting, and the comments are too.
I didn’t know about it, thanks for telling me!
Wore my new vintage Dune today. So beautiful. And it triggered ambition! Changed the sheets, 3 loads of laundry, ran the dishwasher, got my next knitting project (a simple shawl of multi-autumnal colored yarn) started, swapped out my summer purse for my winter purse, just lots of little tidying things! Gonna have crab cakes for dinner…we are watching Slow Horses, which is dreary and violent and painful, but so well done, can my look away..,
yay for new-old perfume and renewed mojo. 😊 I love old Dune, the sandalwood is excellent!
My favorite shawl pattern is Reyna by Noora Backlund. I’ve knit it a few times with variegated sock yarn.
I hope your new shawl project is a fun one.
Glad that your “new” bottle passes muster!
Wow, I own vintage Dune and it has never triggered housework and cleaning but then nothing does. Glad your bottle is a good one.
LOL!
If only perfume could do that for me. Now coffee, that’s different
I loved the Slow Horses books (can’t wait for the next one) but the violence is easier to read than watch, I could not make it through the first episode. Some day when I chill I will watch it!
sotd = 4711 + sweat 💦😅🌡️
The past three days have been all about keeping cool during the heatwave in the southwest US.
I’ve worn 4711 EdC and Guerlain Eau de Fleurs de Cedar on repeat. When I need a change I switch to Apres l’Ondee, a favorite cologne-adjacent scent.
My house has had repeated power outages and Internet outages since Thursday. It’s all feeling a bit surreal. 🙃
But perfume and perfume talk help! Hope all of you wonderful NSTers are doing well this weekend.
Eau de Cedrat!! 😅🍋
My brain corrected to Eau de Cedrat without even noticing the typo, lol
You sure do smell good even with Eau de Sweat! I was just reading about the power outages and my wee brain cannot comprehend why that’s the case.
Ugh, sorry to hear that you’ve been dealing with power outages!
Sorry you are dealing with outages. I hope things get better soon.
That does sound surreal. Hope you are out of the heatwave soon!
Today I am back to NYPL-my first day back in over a month and a half. Nervous but ready.
Encens Mythique from a decant. when will I cave and buy a FB of this?
Better to get Encens Mythique sooner rather than later if you love it so much. Perfume regret is real.
Not to enable or anything … BG is having $ off purchases …
Happy Monday NST!
Wearing Stash today.
My husband is gone all day again; I’m getting my house cleaned and relaxing! If you wonder why it’s nice when my husband is gone for the day, he is old and retired and antsy lol
I had a retired uncle who would come to my grandma’s house all the time looking to fix something. A wobbly chair, a squeaky door, a sticky drawer. Anything! He made her crazy. Lol.
Send him my way!!! We can keep him busy
Ha, I was going to say the same 🙂
YAY for alone time!!
Monday, Monday…
It’s overcast and a bit humid so I’m thinking some rain might be on the way. It’s weird in the valley here because weather will be heading directly for us, then go north or south around us. Don’t know if this is a typical weather pattern for valleys or what…It’s a bit odd.
Wearing SmellBent Smoked Ambergris today. I’m reviving up for fall and cool weather! Vroom vroom!
AnnE’s post has me thinking about Vetiver and what a perfect note it is for moving into fall. So I’m starting the day with Diptyque Vetyverio. Thanks, AnnE!💚
You’re very welcome! Vetyverio might just be the perfect Vetiver for this time of year.
Still in denial about the end of summer, I’m wearing Olène on a grey and rainy day.
Great choice for avoiding cold weather!
I left work early so I could go to the Doctor’s. I’m still under the weather. I think it’s a sinus infection. This is a new Doctor, my old one retired. I hope he listens to me.
My sotd is Chloe Love Story eau Sensuelle.
Not quite the same as a doctor, but I was inconsolable when my longtime dentist retired. I feel your pain.
I hope that your new doctor listens to you, too. Otherwise, he’s not worth going to.
How did your appointment turn out?
I hope s/he did!
Heating up again in the Midwest this week.
SOTD is Zara Romance d’Iris.
Book of the day is Colored Television. Have any of you read it? The NYT and others have given it rave reviews. I am almost finished with it and don’t get all the hype about it. Oh, well carry on 😊
I have not. The one I am looking forward to reading is Matt Haig’s The Life Impossible.
It’s another beautiful spring morning here, even the thought of going to work seems positive on a day like this.
I’m wearing AG’s Heure Exquise, which someone mentioned here recently. I love it, but don’t wear it often, so it was good to be reminded of it.
I do wonder what is going on with AG, they have not released anything new since 2022. Hope they are not in trouble…does not seem like their rebranding took off.
I am wearing Epona today, and loving it. It will be a great cold weather scent, I think,
So Adorable Hubby and I are contemplating a trip. All my European friends here, if we are driving on the A7 from Bingen am Rhein to Saintes-Mairies-de-la-Mer, on the coast south of Arles, Google says this is a 9 hour drive so I would like to stop halfway and break up the drive. Looks like Dijon is about half-way. Is this a reasonable plan? Where is a nice little spot before or after the city where we could stop, have nice bite and a relaxing evening? Or is there a better way than straight down the interstate equivalent? We plan on staying several days at Bingen, and several days at Saintes-Maries. Would it be better to take a train? I drove around Spain and France in the 70’s, but that was a different time. Any advice and suggestions appreciated.
Cloudy but warm here today. Still felt like summer around lunchtime. I don’t think I will get any rain but it would be nice to have some.
SOTD = back in Soft Focus again. I’m getting a savory note that I did not notice yesterday. So it’s either the salt or the chili (pepper). Maybe I will end up getting 2 travel sprays from Fzotic?
You seem to like Soft Focus! I will try it the next time I place an order. I understand he is working on 1-2 more perfumes.
I would call Soft Focus a scent sibling to Unsettled. I ought to try them side by side one of these days.
SOTD = Tom Ford Lavender Extreme EDP
I spied a silver box and lo and behold it was this perfume! Lovely! 💜

I’ve been back to taking walks since the weather turned a little cooler. Hopefully it stays this way until, oh, June 2025? 🤣
Glad to hear that you are getting some temperate weather out there!
Me too!
And R.I.P. James Earl Jones
Yes, I was so sad, though he had a long and successful life. A unique talent – if I hear his name, I clearly hear that voice! He was in so many different roles, and I admire that acting was his craft and his job.
Yeah, I’d heard. A great voice that will always be remembered.
This weekend’s theme for fragrance fit the weather perfectly—it finally cooled off enough to wear denim and a sweater on morning walks. I pondered what made a “transitional” fragrance for me each morning and night and came up with this: A) creamier white florals (like Miller Harris Tubéreuse, which is simply much too buttery for summer) and B) soft ambers (like Astier de Villette’s Tuscan or Perfumer H Smoke & White Smoke). The ambers are particularly cozy. Thank you!
Yes, was in long pants at night all weekend!
